CURSE YOU, FOUL WEATHER!!!!!!!!!!! jwillis35 Posted July 18, 2010 Share Posted July 18, 2010 As of right now, here is what I think we have: ----------- group 1, I felt this would have been close tonight, but with BD on top by .75. Crown still has the brass to stay in top 3, and they are clean and their show has very subtle and sophisticated GE. Bluecoats are top 3 at the moment, I think. 1 Blue Devils 2 Crown 3 Bluecoats ------------group 2, both shows have the potential to be top 3, and both corps have made big improvements. On the rise I think! These two corps may have the most fan-friendly shows of the top 5 corps, and it would not surprise me if they were in the top 3 with BD come Finals. I think both shows are capable of winning the whole thing in August. 4 Cadets 5 Cavaliers ------------group 3, as much as I want to include Blue Stars and Blue Knights, I think SCV and Phantom have the shows to stay in this position if not move even higher. SCV has the more dangerous show IMO, but Phantom has brass and drums as good as anyone. They need visual GE, something SCV has in abundance. 6 SCV 7 Phantom ------------group 4, a very tight group. Glassmen were impressive tonight, as was BK and Madison. The Scouts have a great show, but the design will not push them over BS and BK. They could beat Boston come finals. Glassmen, however, may have the design to challenge for 8 or 9. 8 Blue Stars 9 Blue Knights 10 Boston Crusaders 11 Madison Scouts 12 Glassmen Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chris ncsu Posted July 18, 2010 Share Posted July 18, 2010 No clue. I just hope 1. BD 2. Cadets (well, really, I hope 1. Cadets). Based ONLY on VOD, I think Crown's show still is lacking something emotionally/visually/GE. But there's still time. They and Bluecoats definitely seem to have the continuity of the music in the bag, even more than Cadets I think. Bluecoats and Crown are so evenly matched right now in almost all respects, but I give a visual edge to Bluecoats, and an excitement edge to Bluecoats as well (in the Crown v Coats matchup). When you put Cadets up against them, I really think they match up as good or better at most captions. They've never had the kind of sonority that we're hearing from Crown right now, but that doesn't mean they can't hold their own in brass caption. Their drumline is very good, and so is their guard and their visual. They have a TON going on in GE.
