I think it's fair to say that Downey, Klesch and Prime Jr. have had equal staying power and success across 3 decades. J.D. Shaw and Boerma are right up there with them, although they have had a shorter history. Jim Wren IMO is not getting enough respect in the 80's or 90's on this poll. His body of work with Phantom Regiment was tremendous, unique and created the trademark PR sound.

I can totally agree that Downey's body of work in the 80's was unmatched ........... but I think he has far more competition for him to be in the lead in the 90's. Since 2003, I would have to agree with the inverse of GMichaels post (as he expected)

For the 2000's I picked Richard Saucedo. I picked him because of his fantastic work with original composition work, see me and my older brother really like to listen to original work on the field and Mr. Saucedo in our shared opinions just think he did fantastic work. Not because I am a fan of The Cavaliers but his work in 2008 was some of the best original work I have ever heard.

I went with Downey, Prime, and Shaw, but I've got to give an honorable mention to Jim Wren--frankly, you could make a case that he deserves the top spot on the basis of Defiant Heart alone.

I don't think Gail arranged much for us in the 80s. I believe it was more Gordon Henderson and possibly Tim Salzman.

This is easy (for what is there... no Bocook?)

80's - Wayne Downey

90's - Scott Boerma (by FAR)

00's - Richard Saucedo

Can't vote because Jay Bocook isn't on the list, and he's the best.

Poll invalidated.

Agree.

No Bocook = dumb poll.

Read the OP .... I can't add someone after I've already left them off. And, I commented on the Bocook omission. Thanks for mentioning him though.

80s: Ott, more for his impact on the activity. He was more of an arranger in the 70s, but he did have a huge impact on DCI through the 80s

90s: Scott Boerma, I mean, is there any other choice? Pick any Madison year of that decade and find problems in the arranging. Can't be done. City of Angels is still in my top 10 shows of all time, the 92 edition.

00s: Michael Klesch, his work with Crown has been nothing short of phenomenal.
