Top 12 Prediction Minn, MN July 16, 2011

Agreed. I saw Carolina Crown in Indy last night, (new ending and all), and they ARE the real deal.

Mhmm I saw it too

Their show really is taking shape. Love the "FREE BIRD!" moment and the new ending (tag?) really makes sense. Lets go Crown! The days they got off were really used well.

I wish I knew Crown were here last night. Were they out at Avon?

This is what I think the judges will do for placements. Not necessarily the order deserved, but what will probably shake out Saturday.

I would also like to remind a few folks that in reality placements don't really matter... Its about being entertained!!

Actually, placements DO matter. A corps' placement dictates how much it gets paid, the quaility of housing is receives, and the one most frequently overlooked here on DCP is its order of appearance the following year. World class corps are divided into groups of 3 according to the prior year's final placement. At each show the following year, the groups are rotated within their "trio" for EVERY show. So, 1-3,4-6,7-9,10-12 etc.

Not saying this is right or wrong, but it is what it is. So, the top 3 corps are guaranteed to always been on last or almost last. Translation: The Blue Devils will never have to perform before 8:30 or 9 pm each night. The Blue Knights will always have to be on first or close to first. Since the corps have the same commute between shows, who now gets a better schedule, more sleep, more reheasal time, etc?

And this is all summer, at every show. So yeah, placement DOES matter. While there is strategically no difference between 6th and 7th, there is a HUGE difference in the schedules the following year between the 6th and 7th place corps.
