The Poll and title say it all, what are your opinions?

I know this doesn't really count but on the CD it's Cavies hands down.

My db meter at the 50 yardline of two of the shows, about halfway up, was a tie between Cavs and PR.

SCV was by far the softest corps, almost 15db less than the next softest corps. SCV was softer than Pio and Seattle, which was shocking to me.

Madison and Cadets were also below the middle of the pack. Probably because of staging and the fact that they play with such forced sounds.

The venue probably had something to do with it. But that hornline about 10-15 rows up, first big hit, regardless of class, smoking.

WHOA. I dunno about finals, but in ATL, from the upper deck, Phantom was definitely the loudest. Crown (who still very much deserved the brass title) may not have even been top 5 in volume.

From the 4th row on the 50 Crown and Madison definitely smoked it in volume. Phantom was also incredibly loud.

*edited to be less abbrasive*

Nothing personal, but I don't believe any of this. I know people who had DB meters (and who had to have them) that got very different results.

I posted this back in Sep after 2011 Finals--for reference only, not implying anything scientific, your measurements/perceptions may vary, etc.

ATL Thread

Indy Prelim Thread

======================================================================================

[i thought this might be better in its own thread since it's really about the Indy Preliminaries measurements.]

I really didn't have great seats for Prelims this year -- Section 139 Row 23 Seat 10 which is the next to last row in the back of the lower section on about the right 40 yd line -- so I was considering not posting the Prelim measurements, but why not? Overall, it looks like the Prelims were a few dB below Atlanta mainly because I was a bit further back.

Below, the first number is from Atlanta, the 2nd number is the Indy Prelim measurement (loudest value).

We'll try again next year. I promise I'll upgrade my meter so I won't have to switch ranges, so I won't miss anything.

Oregon surprised me with their first hit....think they had bout 56 horns? Got everything out of them...

The strongest section sound was Cadets mellos during the long whole note in the first big hit....INSANE....
