garfield
yes the sound sucks, but with the roof open it will be worse. Here's why: see those huge windows on the sides? they actually help limit some of the damage when the roof is closed.with the roof open, they will create havoc. They can open those big windows, too. Wouldn't that help?
THeShadeOfNight
Looking at the forecast for DCI finals night; a high of 80 and no rain. I doubt the Lucas Oil Stadium roof will be open, but it sure would be nice. In response to the concern of roof closure at finals and its preposed opening, DCI issued the following official statement: "HAHA NO AND YOU CAN'T MAKE US" 2

Last year they tried the "Thursday is the only shot" route; I can see them trying that again.
Jeff Ream
They can open those big windows, too. Wouldn't that help? From what I have been told, they won't. Despite all the press whenthe place was announced, it really wasn't built to be a musical mecca for sound.I have former coworkers who live there, and will never attend a concert in there again. they went to BOA once to see a neighbors kid, and hated that as well. They say the place is truly good for one thing: The Indianpolis Colts. Even for the Final Four and the upcoming Wrestlemania there will be some issues
skywhopper
Never going to happen. It hasn't even been mentioned officially since the first year, IIRC.
Quad Aces
Never going to happen. It hasn't even been mentioned officially since the first year, IIRC. I'm pretty sure you're right. When they announced the venue and the long term contract, DCI said that they would make every effort possible to keep the roof open. Then when it came to occupy the stadium after Bloomington...DCI just forgot about it. Anyone know why the stance reversal?

And every time someone misses a release, we open these shark tanks......... like shark tank roulette ....
Fran Haring
The older I get, the more I support the idea of drum corps indoors with air conditioning.
charlie1223
Last year Finals would have been rained out and they would have had to evacuate the stadium if the roof was open.
Quad Aces
Last year Finals would have been rained out and they would have had to evacuate the stadium if the roof was open. Right, but what was the reason for the other years in Lucas Oil then?
