elphaba01
"1963, Midwest Senior Melodies": The Midwest "Senior Scene" included: Skokie Indians Boys of 76 Kenosha Kingsmen Hamms Indians Spirit of St Louis Laidlaw Toreodors Kewannee Black Knights Maumee Demons Detroit Lamplighters I believe the present day Minn Brass corps can trace it's lineage back to the old Toreodors. The Skokie Indins (The American Legions Senior National Champion 1955, 56 & 57) morphed into the Men of Brass, who were taught by Truman Crawford. The Boys of 76 became the Spirit of 76. Elphaba WWW :ph34r:/> You're mostly correct, "my little pretty" :worthy:/> ...MBI is a combo of what was the Laidlaw Toreadors AND the remnants of the Hamm's (nee Schmidt) Indians.. Mostly that was how MBI (nee Brass, Inc.) was born..The Schmidt version of the Indians were the first drum corps I ever saw, back in about '57 or '58 when I was all of 4 yrs old..A family friend was in the hornline back then..I feel bad we never got the chance to march together later, as he rejoined Brass the year I went into the military... But don't forget my "Gang in Green" from St. Peter...They ARE the oldest competing corps "in the world" ($1 to John Mayer) Pat
