DrumManTx
Guard is something that I really appreciate, but don't know a lot about. I personally prefer equipment work over dance. Visual Design is something I'm interested in doing at some point in the future, and obviously, this is a big part of it! So, who are some of the best to watch on the fan network? I would prefer modern guards, but throw in some oldies too if you want! And don't feel like you just have to share one. I have a lot of free time to watch stuff. tommynev
My all time favorite guard has to be Cadets of Bergen County 1992. I saw that show live multiple times that season, including their first performance (which was a train wreck), and on video hundreds of times. They were so perfect, their book was state of the art at the time, and they just captured to essence of their theme so well. Such a great flag line, and really just a great show all around. A list of my faves: Cadets: 1989-1996 (all amazing) Cavaliers: 1991, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2003 (wow), 2004, 2010. Carolina Crown: 2007-present. (Always close to flawless with amazing musicality and demand) Phantom Regiment: 1991, 1996, 2005, 2011, 2012. Santa Clara: 1989, 1991, 2013. Star of Indiana: 1993 (holy crap) Blue Knights: 1992, 2012. Blue Devils: 1994 (never really understood all the hoopla about them, they don't march under their work most of the time) Sure there are others, these are just the ones that pop out in my mind.
Quadman1
Here are some good old school guards that, in my opinion, are excellent and worthy to check out: Phantom Regiment 1978 through 1983 27th Lancers 1979-'81 Madison Scouts 1980-'82 Santa Clara Vanguard 1978-'81 Guardsmen 1979 Edited August 1, 2013 by Quadman1
Kamarag
Don't forget the guard that revolutionized the caption, particularly in areas like visual focus of the program and integration of work with body: Suncoast Sound 1988

But really, any Cadets (esp. April Gilligan's guards) and BD guard throughout the past two decades will show off some fantastic skill and design. Whiskey
Best guards I've ever seen live: Blue Devils 1999 and 2003 Cadets 2005 Groups I didn't see live because I was competing against them at the time or was just a young tyke: 27th Lancers 1979 - 1981 Cadets 1990 and 1994 Spirit of Atlanta - mid 80's shows Phantom Regiment 1988 (beautiful flag work)

just_another_fanatic
As far as modern colorguards go, BD 1999 is a highpoint. Cadets 2005 is another. Hard to touch BD 99 though, those kids could could toss and dance. How often do you see an all rifle feature and an all sabre feature in the same show? NEVER. AND THEY WERE FLAWLESS. Tad_MMA
Don't forget Cadets 1991. The flag work in the opener was amazing. It's no secret that April's guards are my favorite (throw in Star 1993 and Cavies 2007 for some wow). 1994 had SO much going on, and that guard's integration in the drill is incomparable (especially for how they performed).
