mingusmonk
Phantom Regiment has announced the music for its Swan Lake program. Swan Lake, by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky La Peri, by Paul Dukas Dracula, by Philip Feeney King Kong, by James Newton Howard Flightplan, by James Horner. I do not know whether this is the exact order in which the music will be played but we have music from three ballets and two motion pictures. My guess is that the King Kong piece will be " Beautiful ". As for the Flightplan music, most of it is beautiful but, interestingly, the tracks which highlight the feelings and senses of panic/conflict are, according to Mr. Horner, performed without brass instruments, only strings, percussion and woodwinds. Sounds like a wonderful opportunity for the battery and the front ensemble. I would be interested in hearing from those of you who have a music education and those who do not whether these selections fit within the Swan Lake theme. Cool. Where is this at? Cappybara
I wonder why Phantom was so quiet about posting their repertoire. I don't think they even had an FB post about it.
lowend
Maybe because of the reaction to their uniforms? I wouldn't make a big to-do over something if I had already been burned once.
poprocks
They posted links to almost all the source material on FB a couple weeks ago. They've been easing into it without making a big announcement
mingusmonk
Hat tip to Dave Scott. Updated Cadets info and Spotify based on 5/30 DCI Fieldpass. Removed non-Copland works and Red Pony. Added Music for The Theater and App Spring (again).
Cappybara
Man, the Cadets aren't shy to change their music selections repeatedly are they?
