Jeff Ream
Some people do relish gore, gaga,, beheadings, misogyny remarks, self puking, what is " funny " ( what is not funny ), and the like.. this is undeniably true, of course. As we said... to each his own. Hi Captain Over Literal.... I was referring to Mike's joke. It's quite clear you don't get humor and read wayyyyyyyy too much into what people type to support your theories and views Edited April 24, 2014 by Jeff Ream
Jeff Ream
Yes, and for about 50 years too... and yet a couple of posters on here get a case of the vapors if Phantom does a beheading twice. Go figure. actually no one is wigging out that Phantoms doing death/behading because it's vile disgusting and sending the mesage of violence to the masses. people just want to see them do something different. They aren't offended that they killed Spartacus, his love or Will Pitts, it's that in following years Juliet died, a red violin killed them and some tall walking bad art project got beheaded. it's like...try something new, not they are grossed out

There are also some people feeling the same about the direction of Spirit, and their shows are far from gory ( well some might think so...lol ) also its ( with some ) that a few condemn sexy moves , costumes, sensual , etc etc yet dont mind violence. corpsband
We likely won't as there is zero necessity/need to have live music in a guard show. With percussion, there is already a need/necessity to have a visual package. As for winter percussion morphing into guard, it's been happening for decades. When I marched IP percussion we have guard members/dancers. Back then they had to spend a portion of time playing percussion, so they our dancers played cymbals, or other various stuff for short periods at a time. But that was late 90's, so this isn't a new thing Ive seen guard shows with live music. It happens -- not often -- but it still happens. Or is somebody there beside you that is incapable of speaking on their own behalf ? Edited April 24, 2014 by BRASSO

HornTeacher
Memo To: All World-Class and Open-Class DCI affiliated Corps From: Everyone else in the literate World (and yes, that includes some of the current Drum Corps Planet Membership) RE: 2015 Show Programs It is hereby recommended that all Corps, both World-Class and Open-Class, STRONGLY consider the use of "Jackson Pollack: Revisionary or Simple Polack?" as their program for 2015. In the event that you cannot incorporate any Jackson Pollack original art as a suitable inspiration for your respective show(s), we at DCI are most certain that if you were to look closely, you will find a representative finger painting rendered from a youth within your family line. This, of course, will earn you points for a program based upon familial immediacy and relevance. However...please do not make such reference as being TOO much a part of your program. Remember...BALANCE counts (We at DCI, nor those among our constituency, just don't know who is ultimately responsible for such balance.) But it DOES count. Consider yourselves informed and forewarned. With Warmest Regards, DCI Edited April 24, 2014 by HornTeacher

With Warmest Regards, DCI too late.......lol the best Jackson Pollock show 1996 was done by Bishop Kearney HS in WGI. flying paint and all even old radio interviews of Pollock for naration. FREAKIN FANTASTIC!!!!! would love to see a DCI corps do it like they did. although the no liquid ban would prevent doing it the same way.
