Whoa...

Yawn...

That Blue Knights uniform... VERY underwhelmed I'm afraid to say...

I've never thought that grey works well on a football field. It was the same issue they had when they wore grey pants back in the 90's. The grey bleeds into the green of the field and looks dull. One of my least favorite designs of the year.

Good thing there isn't a show at eastern michigan university because they just announced they are getting a grey field.

From every uniform podcast and interview I've ever read, that's the point. It, like black, is supposed to be a neutral background for the other colors to "pop" against. Grey is just the trendy "modern" version.

Except that black and white work well because they are high contrast, thus enabling the pop of other colors. Grey is a depressing mid-tone that absorbs all light and color into it. It looked awful when Blue Stars used too much of it a few years ago, and they fortunately wised up and went with higher contrast on the revision. The grey pants on the original Blue Knights dot uniforms worked because they were a light shade, closer to white. Toward the end of that uniform run, they switched to darker grey and black shoes, and the blech factor was introduced.

The first press photo of this new uniform had the model turned to such an extent that the darker side of the jacket appeared to be be a dusty blue. Now that it is revealed to be actually grey, BLECH rules again!
