Eleran
Sum total of texts from my son about today with Jersey Surf: "It was fine; long. We just finished rehearsal" 11:11 pm Guess I'll have to wait until I pick him up tomorrow to hear anything of note. Follow up info from son on the ride home: "The food was good!"
HornTeacher
Follow up info from son on the ride home: "The food was good!" "The Ride Home...." Are we conjuring Troopers 2011? Depending upon the actual bus activities which MIGHT have taken place in 2011, it MIGHT have given the show a little more emphasis.
jjeffeory
A new drum corps that is starting up out of Utah had their first ever camp this weekend. The Battalion. Very good turnout for a brand-new corps. Photos are up on their Facebook page Blue Knights also has camp this weekend. I have a few vague connections there, but haven't heard anything. 14 TUBAS.... Decent sounding clip too.
MotoSurfBass
Follow up info from son on the ride home: "The food was good!" Surf winter camp food is heavenly at its best, high-end tour food at its worst.

BozzlyB
There's a nice little video of Blue Stars hornline floating around Facebook. I'll see if I can get it posted tonight.

TroopAlum12
Nice to see Maestro Michael Patrick Terry back in front of the Cadets baritone/euph line. I love Mikey! He was the bari/euph tech all three of my years at Troop. Amazingly talented individual (and an awesome person in general).
rayfallon
I asked my daughter about Crossmen camp - she took last summer off to study in France so this is age out year. She didn't say much (it was a short email convo) except that she really enjoyed being back, and "cried when they played Russian Christmas" God I've loved passing drum corps on to my kids. Now I have to wait and see if 14 year old grandson will follow in his dad & mom's footsteps. He's playing trombone in Ft Worth Youth Symphony now, but it's hard to imagine him not at least putting his toes in the water to see how it feels. If I had to guess I'd guess BD, where mom and dad met. Life is good. Drum Corps is alive and well.
