DrumManTx
If Spirit goes 18 - 12 I'd be really impressed. LOTS of hungry corps in that range though.

dcifanforlife
No corps in the history of DCI has every placed in the top 12 with a shortened season. As much as every wants to see Spirit do well history is not on their side.

As much as every wants to see Spirit do well history is not on their side. there's a corps or two that learned this the hard way ( modern day at least ) meaning at very least the past 20 years . BRASSO
No corps in the history of DCI has every placed in the top 12 with a shortened season. Not true. The Bleu Raeders ( Louisiana ) in 1972 did not compete until August 4th. They made DCI's Finals however( 12th place ) 2 weeks later in a Prelims comprised of 39 competing Drum Corps at DCI's 1972 Championships in Whitewater, Wisconsin. ( The competition seasons started much earlier back then too... the end of May for some of the Corps that competed at these early years of the DCI's Championships. ) Then..... 1n 1973, The Commodores ( Calif ) did not start out until July 20th ( a full 8 weeks after the start of the Drum Corps season out in Calif ) and yet finished in DCI's Top 12 among the 48 Corps they competed against in the Prelims to make it to Finals Night, and the coveted DCI " Top 12" this season of 1973. Then once again.... in 1974, The Purple Lancers ( NY) did not start out their season until July 4th. They competed against 57 Corps at DCI's Championships that season. Some of whom started their season over 5 weeks earlier on May 25th, and yet this Corps as well made DCI's Finals at 10th ( another early DCI Championships that I was fortunate to be in attendance at. ) You would have been on accurate footing had you stated " modern day DCI " above,, instead of " in the history of DCI ". mfrontz
1. Blue Devils 2-12. Others. Same result. Different year. Yawn DCI BD has never three-peated. Then again, they had never come from behind to win finals until last year. So...
BRASSO
Another interesting trivia tidbit about the DCI dominating Blue Devils is that they have never failed to win or share a Title in any year in which they have won the Prelims. This is going all the way back their 1st DCI winning Title in 1976. Also, whoever wins the Semi Finals most years, goes on to win the Title the following nite. Its very rare in DCI for a Corps to win the Semi Finals and then lose the Championship the following nite, despite the complete change of judging panels. 2015 showed however that its still possible to win the Championships, after not finishing first in the Semi Finals....... yet very rare.
