StuStu
And though it seems too obvious to need mentioning, don't miss the tour of the Indianapolis Speedway. Even if you aren't a racing fan (I'm not), it's fascinating. The museum is in the Speedway infield. Normally there is no fee to enter the grounds. Because there is a race event that weekend, though, it's not possible to just drive in and see the museum. You have to have at least a general admission ticket to the track. Also, although the museum will be open, there are no track tours on a race weekend.
Corps_Efan
You can make it to Shapiros Kosher Deli during a lunch break - it's a 5 min walk from the stadium. Shapiros has big windows and thin wooden chairs that screech on the tile floor, thick China plates and cups, enormous corned beef sandwiches, free refills, and a gorgeous display of desserts. Usually pretty full of DCI folks. Shapiro's Delicatessen 808 S Meridian Indianapolis, IN 46225 Mon-Sun 6:30am - 8:00pm

Most amazing deli I think I've even been in. Found it last year and meeting 10, or so, friends there for lunch on Thursday.

Jurassic Lancer
Every year someone makes a thread about things to do in Indianapolis since several DCPers may go there for the first time this year. It's coming up fast, next week already! I'll be there Thursday through Sunday, and plan on packing in as much fun as possible. Other than seeing awesome drum corps, what are your favorite things to do in Indy? Places to eat? Activities? Personally, I like to go to the Claddagh Irish Pub around noon Thursday through Saturday, tip a couple of Guinness’s and have a burger or other fine pub food. It's especially great to sit outside by the sidewalk ... I always meet some interesting drum corps fans to talk with, and even ran into a guy I marched with in the mid-seventies last year! It’s a great way to spend the early afternoon before the shows. It is a stone’s throw away from Lucas Oil at 234 S Meridian St. I will also second St. Elmo’s is amazing! C.Holland
the area of Broad Ripple is full of restaurants, shops, and music venues. Brugge Brasserie is a great place for mussels and frites. Freedom Springs aquatic park is nice. Go see the Indianapolis Speedway and the museum in it, or Dallara Indy Car Factory is also a sweet place to see. Eagle Creek marina is cute and the downtown arts district has museums and galleries.
