DrumManTx
I'm not gonna watch any vids, but I have one very important question... Is there a tuba feature??? There is one in the front half of the show.
Jurassic Lancer
If nothing else, this show will again broaden the audience for DCI, and inspire corps to explore brand concepts that could birth one or two completely new and innovative corps. For some of these smaller corps that may feel stuck playing band music, Bluecoats may have opened up an entirely new idea for them to explore and recruit to. Now as an old timer, I do miss the traditional corps style. Bluecoats had the best, coolest uniforms out there. Would Willy wear one of these outfits?! I say yes...but not without some laughs! Kudos to the Coats staff for continuing to risk and risk and risk. They're going to pack every house they play in and sell the heck out of merch. I already bought my tour shirt, and generally, I don't buy tour shirts!
Jurassic Lancer
I'm a drum corps dino, and will proudly admit it (1970s-80s era Erie T-Birds, anyone?). I have no idea what goes on in WGI -- have never seen a WGI show, and don't know what makes a WGI production "WGI." I thought the Bluecoats show last night was phenomenal. If you dislike the costume (not uniform), or the use of the half pipe props, then just LISTEN to the show. Dare I say, that the music is a modern take on a pretty traditional drum corps show. Jazzy, lots of Latin flavor, with a 1970s pop music ballad. Percussion features. Brass soloists. C'mon, fellow dinos -- get past the visuals and just listen to the music. It is accessible, and its spectacular. Can't wait to see (and hear!) more of the show through the rest of the year! I am as Dino as I can be. Heck, it says so in my screen name. This show is undoubtedly the most innovative thing that has come down the pike ... I mean 1/4 pipe ... in ages, if not ever! I remember when Garfield shook up drum corps in 1982-83, and for several years later, drum corps fans said they were ruining drum corps. Heck, Steve Vickers said as much. I think we are witnessing another seismic shift in the activity. Drum corps isn't ruined ... It is being propelled forward. Forevergreen
They do more than slide on these props-I guess if you sit or stand or hang off them it doesn't count 😘😘
Forevergreen
So in 2010 with Metropolis- The Future is Now- that had to be foreshadowing for this show
c.l.
Show seems like an old school Crossmen show hyper modernized, I like it.
TroopAlum12
From the six shows last night, Bloo was my favorite. The others couldn't touch them in terms of show design. I agree with the opinion that this show is going to be a huge game changer in the activity. And man did they perform the crap out of it for so early in the season! Blue Devils better watch out this year!
mj3004
Were all the keyboard players playing both Marimbas and Vibes? I've never seen that before along with that crazy pit spread!
tamadrummer04
Show seems like an old school Crossmen show hyper modernized, I like it. Yep. The opener was the same as Crossmen 2002 - my favorite Crossmen show, musically.
