Jeff Ream
Time will tell. The need to appear relevant by co-opting what the youth are up to is certainly nothing new. In 1971, 27th Lancers were playing "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" (came out on the album in 69, but released as a single in Autumn 1970). I wonder, though, if 45 years from now, as many people will remember this Bieber song as do the Chicago hit. most people younger than us probably dont even know who Chicago is
Stu
A few more musical 'crap' quotes for Eleran: "Listening to the Fifth Symphony of Ralph Vaughn Williams is like staring at a cow for 45 minutes." - Copland "Handel; a tub of pork and beer." - Berlioz "If Ravel had been making shell casings during the war it might have been better for music" - Saint-Saens "Berlioz composes by splashing his pen over the manuscript and leaving the issue to chance." - Chopin

perc2100
Just because you have the quality to make crap sound acceptable doesn't mean you should select crap in the first place. Mahler, Bruckner, Strauss, Sibelius, Delius, Vaughan Williams, Bax, Janacek, Hindemith, etc., etc. ... but no. They go with the guy posting on Facebook a selfie while grabbing his junk in his underwear. Yeah! Just because you have incredible design team to make awesome visuals around any piece of music, or the members capable of pulling off practically 100% of the stuff the design team throws at them, or the arrangers that can make almost any charts sound awesome in context of their shows, doesn't mean you should?
