Suffice it to say... this work is less well received as a Christian work than "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Godspell", or even an episode of "Southpark" featuring Jesus. Yah. I'm a religious studies scholar and when Cadets confirmed Mass for their show, my first thought was "They're gonna get it from both sides in the current cultural climate. The new-Atheist influenced secular crowd won't get that it's an anti-dogmatic statement and simply react to the overt religious references in negative ways. The 'let's go back to Tridentine Mass' crowd (if any exist among the Cadets/Holy Name funders anymore) would gasp that they're even touching this piece. The only ones who are going to get this show are musical theater people familiar with the source." I bet it goes on all season.

After last year, I think that the contenders are going to be hyper prepared in these first couple of shows. We will known them by their polished look and sound on night one. Crown Phan
For Good had me almost in tears in the theater. Never thought a singer could be effective in a ballad during the big climax but WOW did they prove me wrong. Best ballad since 2013.
Jeremy.
Carolina Crown: that hornline is ridiculous again. Shows growing on me! The ending is soooo abrupt :(
Forevergreen
Overall a bit underwowed by show design. Brass on the other hand--just felt like I got that shiny new toy on Christmas morn.
sadtrombonesound
Vocals were a little heavy for my tastes, but that may just be the theater audio mix
mcjordansc
The gap between Cavies and Crown is LARGE, and the demise of Crown guard has been greatly exaggerated.
