That's your opinion. Alumni still teach the corps, they are just also professional music educators. The techs now ARE dedicated teachers, that get paid yes. Back in the day many of the techs were volunteers or, in the case of my corps in the 50s and 60s, volunteers with very little traditional musical training. You get rid of directors from Drum Corps and it's gone. It's taken more seriously in music education circles because teachers and professors know students are going to be getting a quality education by participating, something that will help them later in life should they choose to go into music. Educators aren't steering away the "serious" musicians anymore because they trust the staffs at these corps.
