There are lots of really good high school marching band programs in the L.A. and San Diego areas. They recruit from both. Plus the incredible indoor drumline circuits in SoCal. A lot of Gold's percussion staff is from Pulse.. If all the talent in the L.A. area marched in SoCal there would be a world class finalist every year.
