Why ?

In their drum break, the Genesis pit is wailing on all sorts of auxiliary things and two off the pit picks up what appeared to be a kitchen sink and they wailed on it too.  They reprise it at the end of the closer.

Agreed. They went with a different director, a lot of new staff, and judging by the feed, the members look pretty young too.

A Major Staff change is what seemed to be needed  and welcomed from the last few seasons of placing outside of Semifinals. I just wasn't aware they took such a hard hit in membership #'s in both the Hornline and Colorguard. Was there a significant increase in tour Fee this year or something? Anyone know?

The tarps layout makes the drill make a lot more sense.  By and large, they're not marching on the tarps other than the opening statement.  The front piece is a 'stage' and the back lines are filed use boarders and/or runways for the guard.  It's a clever way to frame the field use and not be boring about it.

If you demarcate the field with tarps, you need to establish some rules so the audience understand when the corps is and isn't supposed to step on them.

Otherwise they just seem random.

Heh.  I saw a number of 'odd things' coming out in the pit but missed the kitchen sink somehow.  That's definitely something to look for.  Makes sense with their theme of building from the ground up that they'd have 'household stuff...and the kitchen sink"
