It is quite the setup - there are 2 people checking in patients, 2 giving injections, 1 keeping logistics straight, 1-2 running around helping where needed. & 3 EMTs in case someone has bad reaction (none so far when she has been there). BUT, since thread this is supposed to be about Varsity bringing Drum Corps into its Evil Empire, maybe Varsity could set up vaccination stations at their Atlanta cheerleading event. Ok to keep on topic. Varsity or whoever needs to have medical personnel and anti-allergy meds ready. Saw someone get a antibiotic drip that 90% of people can handle. Within 10 minutes I saw what “red man/lobster syndrome” looks like 🤯. Nurse stopped drip and gave anti-allergy shot. mingusmonk
Supposed to be the inaugural show this weekend? https://www.facebook.com/SoundSport/posts/soundsport-scholastic-is-coming-to-cincinnati-september-25th-register-your-march/3858797250913423/ Yet nothing but crickets chirping. I know Varsity is dabbling in some other scholastic marching band ventures as well, like US Bands. Nothing seems to have any teeth yet. Side note: Bearcats marching band and Varsity have had some other heavy cross-promotional stuff this summer/fall. Probably not a coincidence that they performed DCI "finals" night this year too. Was it paid for by Varsity/Stanbury? Interesting rabbit hole.
MikeN
Unrelated, but Varsity just lost round 1 of it's class action antitrust lawsuit against the cheerleading division in Tennessee. The judge agreed that 90% market share does in fact qualify as a monopoly, and the suit can move forward. Not sure if it will impact marching band operations, as currently it's a massively crowded marketplace, but it might impact how they structure their events down the road.
