BUT WHERE ARE THE BIG ### PROPS? WHY AREN'T THE MEMBERS RUNNING FROM THE LAST SET IN A SNAKE LINE TO THEIR NEW DOT? WHY NO SQUAT POSING? NO ONE IS ROLLING AROUND ON THE TURF! AND, ONLY TWO COSTUMES????? Edited July 16, 2022 by ykw
ThePlanets
"Timeless" and "Shows that can be played today with the same success" are two completely different things. My list of shows that were ahead of their time: Star of Indiana 1991 and 1993 Bluecoats 1995 SCV 1988/1989 Crown 2004 A number of 80s Cadets shows BD 08 which laid the foundation thematically for them to undoubtedly become the most successful corps in DCI history. This show didn't win but I feel it's much different than the 1994-2007 Blue Devils and this show could probably still pull a medal in 2022. ThePlanets
My list of "timeless" shows that illustrate the history of DCI and never get old: Madison 1975 BD 1976 SOA 1980 27th Lancers 1980 Bridgemen 1980 Cadets 1985 BD 1986 Cadets 1987 VK 1987 SCV 1987 Cadets 1987 Madison 1988 SCV 1989 Phantom 1989 Star 1991 VK 1992 Cavaliers 1995 Phantom 1996 Cadets 1998 SCV 1999 Cadets 2000 Boston 00 All Cavaliers 00-06 Boston 02 Phantom 03 Crown 05 Bluecoats 06 Phantom 06-08 BD 09 Cavaliers 10 Cadets 11 Crown 12 Bluecoats 14 BK 14 BD 14 (not my bag but I can't ignore its significance) The entire top 6 in 2015 Bluecoats 2016 Boston 2017 SCV 2018 Bluecoats 2019 BK 2019 I don't think we will get another classic this year unless Boston somehow pulls off Gold. Intentionally left off my list: Cadets 05. I saw this at my very first DCI live show and while the corps talent was amazing the show design is nothing short of bizarre and creepy. I didn't enjoy it then and I still don't get it now. Edited July 16, 2022 by ThePlanets

When they got to the corps singing, everyone hushed each other to listen so it could sound out. Then we went nuts for the rest of the show. It was a great crowd pleaser.
OldSnareDrummer
I always wondered how my old, defunct corps would have done in modern times had we survived all these years (and the other 6,000 corps didn't ). Given the talent level we had in our best year and assuming the staff we had was able to adapt to today, probably not too bad. Somewhere mid to high Open Class I'd imagine. Cap: Timeless = would be competitive shows today. TPlan: Timeless = will never grow old to listen to.
