Popular Post CorpsClash
Hi all, BAC 17' 19' alum here. I remember myself and basically all other members using DrumScorps to stay informed about scores when we marched. Those moments of anticipation in the tour bus, awaiting the pop-up notification with our competitors' scores, were incredibly tense and thrilling. My most vivid memory was pulling up the scores the night we passed the Cadets in 2017 😉 Unfortunately, it looks like DrumScorps ceased operations after the 2019 season, leaving a void in the 2022 season with no similar app available. Today, I'm proud to present CorpsClash as the successor to DrumScorps, prepared to serve the DCI community for the 2023 season and beyond. In essence, CorpsClash replicates the functionality of DrumScorps, while also aiming to bring additional features to the table! Creating CorpsClash has been a passion project for me, combining my love for drum corps with my skills in software development. I'm excited to give back to the drum corps community and plan to support CorpsClash for the foreseeable future. Other communication channels I created a Twitter account for CorpsClash. Currently, my plan is to only use Twitter for sharing updates on any outages or issues with CorpsClash, as direct communication may be impacted during if the servers are broken. I also added an announcements page in the app that is hosted separately and should be able to be accessed in the case of server outages. Monetization Unfortunately, hosting the servers for CorpsClash isn't free (gotta love those AWS bills). However, I firmly believe that CorpsClash should serve all its users effectively, so no crucial features will be locked behind a paywall. To cover costs, I plan to introduce a 'season pass' in-app purchase offering additional features such as dark mode and notification filtering. All revenue generated from these in-app purchases will be invested back into the CorpsClash, either to cover hosting costs or to improve the overall user experience (like bringing additional developers onboard). Feature Requests I work full-time as a software engineer, so I can only devote a certain amount of bandwidth to working on this app (i.e. weekends or after work). However, I want to get dark mode and notification filtering out within the next few weeks. I have a roadmap here, detailing features that are either planned or currently under development. You can add and upvote new features that you want. The best way to report bugs or other issues is to post them in the roadmap. BlueStainGlass
so its an app to tell you scores that are posted on DCI website? What do you get from this thats different then that? I know where your real money maker will be but it will be alot of work (probably not that much if you can pull data from a site using a query or something) and thats head to head historical info.

CrownBariDad
Nice! Gotta love it when musicians also write software. On the old CompuServe Borland forum (yes, I'm that old), they ran a poll about which developers were also musicians (or at least had lessons, self taught, etc.). As I recall, the result was about 80%. Probably had a lot to do with the creative + math aspects.
Cappybara
First I want to say thank you so much for making this app, it’s very well designed and looks like how an iOS designed app should look. Also really appreciate the detailed changelogs within the app as well. Question for you, is this app optimized for 120 Hz screens? It doesn’t appear to me, it seems to run at 60 Hz. From what I remember, when Apple released the iPhone 13 Pro, they made it pretty easy for developers to make their apps 120 Hz optimized. Just wanted to put that out there and thank you again for the app! 😊
craiga
I love how I downloaded the app yesterday and last night I got an alert on my phone the second the scores were up. Awesome!

KVG_DC
This is great!  Not sure why but the listing of events is in reverse chronological order for me. Pressing the calendar button takes me to mid season rather than the current date .
