The reason being is if you had the gain set higher then it does sound a little louder but you don’t get the dynamic range. Mine has been pretty good, but I have a home theater custom built to show off the quality and volume that drum corps horns produce. I won’t go into any deeper here. because it can get on the nerdy side I’ll see if I can get a thread started on this and detail some of the settings I use.
