While I believe all the guards are improved this year, I am puzzled why both regionals and an additional show had the same color guard judge, Brahan, and she is a rookie judge. Her placements just do not seem to compare with other judges at other shows and content should not be based on preferred style. Body under tosses, not catching conventionally, the fact that all members are constantly contributing, difficulty, demand, etc., should be taken into consideration. Boston CG is better than what they were given.

She is a highly qualified adjudicator. Seems to me your preferred style is the issue here...not the judge in question. You don't like her opinion because it doesn't align with your.  BD has a very broad range of skills.  Don't forget....dance is also part of the vocabulary.  It certainly seems BD checks that particular box more than most.

Thanks for talking about something other than BuT tHe NaRrAtIoN.

The narration does suck though. This isn’t a Bloo specific thing, narration and voice just usually isn’t fun. This is the main reason why I had a hard time enjoying Crown until this year. It’s not specific to Bloo. A lot of corps incorporate small amounts of narration, but when it becomes central to the show, it becoming grating.

If the Keytar wasn’t involved last year, Bloo’s show last year would be hard to stomach too

It’s not the same for me but I understand that take.

tbh the only narration that has totally turned me off from a show was that Cadets talkshow lady from way back when. if i survived that, I can survive anything. truly nothing else has compared, ever.

It really just depends. I loved BK 2014, but they were the exception, not the rule

It sucks in your opinion 🙂

Yes, definitely my opinion. But I wager that my opinion isn’t the minority amongst the more dedicated drum corps fans

Boston’s show is clearly about the Blue Devils.  They are the whale they can’t seem to catch.  And the play On the Waterfront because, if not for BD, they could have been a contender.

A pretty deep and psychological response, though you do have a point about BD being the whale. Boston Crusaders is not afraid of having hidden messages in their shows, the most obvious being “Animal Farm” in 2014 and “Goliath” in 2019 may have been more than a retelling of the Biblical tale. I’m not sure I agree on the “On the Waterfront” quote. I first saw Boston Crusaders in 1975, or at least that’s the first time I remember seeing them. No matter how challenging or disappointing a season was, “could have been” are words that have never been uttered, and unlike Brando’s character in the movie, they’d never admit to being a bum. 🙂

not going to lie, i have had a bad day, and in both places i talk about dci during todays show i experienced a lot of toxicity and it really, really killed my mood. the scores actually had me feeling a little hurt, which is a little hypocritical considering ive been the "scores dont matter" guy all season basically. then i saw the sub totals . holy. huge props to crown for the second place. holy moly bloo you almost had em. this is an insanely interesting season.

Sorry you had a rough day. Sounds like maybe got some joy back by the end - do what you have to in order to hold on to it. I just enjoyed the shows and stayed off DCP until scores were digested. It is such a great DCI season - thanks again to all the corps!
