Well, then here's a thought.

You seem like you may know something... or are you just speculating?

If you know something, then speak up. This alumnus wants answers, and the ones I've already received aren't favorable.

What she said, as a fellow alumnus.

If you've got answers to these questions, this is the place to share them. I know that I still have a good impression of Rick from the seasons I was with the corps, and I'm still having a hard time believing some of what I've read in this and other threads, and what I've heard from other corps members. So by all means, if you've got information to share, I'll gladly listen to it.

But if you dont, please stop posting- you're not contributing anything to the thread.

DISCLAIMER: i am not against any corps as an organization, performing ensemble, or rival on the competitive field. i am however against a corps being run incorrectly in correlation to Federal, state, and DCI Laws, By-laws, and governing rules. the folowing is personal opinion and in no way reflects the viewpoint of any particular corps.

im not surprised that this is a really long thread. after talking to come CR members semifinals night, i came to the realization that they loved the activity called drum corps. the same CR members i talked to, told me various stories, many of which have already been posted, and came to the general concensus (individually not in a group setting) that when Fred showed up he was a godsend.

looking into the situation with no bias towards the corps as an organization, staff, or members, what happened this past summer is a great mistake much like that of Nazi Germany, Socialist Russia, or even Regime controlled Iraq. Things that happen must be used as an example to learn from.

as far as i know, corps are required to have copies of birth certificates on file for every member, along with various other types of information. this is a DCI requirement. in the big picture of things, DCI could also require information on file for every volunteer and staff member. this could also be linked to BOD. during the summer tour, it could be a FEDERAL LAW, and even might be, to have driver information on file in regards to copy of a CDL, evidence of drug tests, and a system in place to replace drivers who violate laws during tour.

this isnt even hypothetical. its a bunch of things that must happen in order for the safety of not only the corps members, but staff, admin, and volunteers, to remain intact and survive a rather strenuous season. am i still unsure as to how a corps is run, yes. but i at least can realize that when something like cr's current position comes up, it makes one question some of the safeguards put in place by a governing body.

DISCLAIMER: The preceding was brought to you by BryceH and no other person, group of people, or organization. if there are any concerns, legitimate or not, DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME BY EMAIL. i guarantee that all emails will recieve a reply.

How often does DCP have a thread about CR recieve nearly 10,000 views in 24 hours? To those (or in this case the one person apparently) whose management practices caused this type of discussion...or lack of management apparently...sure was worth it, huh? <**>

This is an eye-opener, however. I have heard of things going on at CapReg this past summer but never knew it was this bad.

i herard of stuff last summer. now i truly understand why they changed percussion caption heads, and i fully understand why the old staff was bad mouthed

WHAT? Think about that comparison. Seriously.

Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

There were some bumps in the road on a kid's band tour. How much worse than many of us have endured? It's not a tragedy. Katrina was a tragedy. One guy is taking all the heat for a series of unfortunate problems. When things don't go smoothly, someone is always "the goat" (and I don't mean Jerry Rice). Maybe it's all his fault or maybe there are circumstances we don't know about, or a bad mix of personnel who didn't work well together or were underqualified for their duties. Either way, the reaction usually boils down to the conclusion that if HE were just gone everything would be perfect. In reality, it takes many to mambo.

As important as this is for CR and others, please try to loosen those panty knots just a stitch.

Oh yeah, and if I sued every time a corps owed me a 1000 bucks, I'd have spent most of the 80's in court. It certainly isn't the first time.

This is absolutely terrible. I HATE seeing my corps fall like this. I want to be proud of Capital Regiment, after all, it's what has gotten me to where I am today, but I can't possibly be proud of an organization where...

A country is not it's president.

A church is not it's priest.

A corps is not it's director.

Be very proud of what YOUR corps -- your family -- has done.

In this case, The Corps, and The Organization are different.
