ScribeToo
listen womanmaybe it's the imaginary tone of voice and sarcasm i hear while reading his posts (me thinking that isn't completely unwarrented given the poster) he could have explained it a little bit more... don't we have an emoticon of a little guy shaking his fists in anger? Are you hearing the voices, now, too? when you start "hearing" tone and sarcasm in a post on a soundless message board, you probably want to remind yourself that those sounds are coming from your own head, not the poster. I've known him for a couple of years and I'm pretty sure Jayzer doesn't have the ability to project sounds into other people's minds. At least not yet. shawn craig
I would agree with that - but would also mention that from what I've seen in this thread, the Cavaliers seem to prefer talent first.I'm not saying that the entire corps is full of ring chasers, or even that it's a popular attitude, but that it would be delusional to say that it isn't present. A better argument would probably be that people may go there for a ring, but as they experience the process they begin to understand that it is about much more than that. I agree, especialy with what I bolded. Also about talent vs attitude. I would clarify and say with a high level of talent and all things being close on the final cuts, a GOOD attitude will help put you ahead. Phantom&Phitch
Yeah, and you can say the same about any other corps. They all have tremendous examples of simultaneous responsibilities. And they all have examples of "ehhhh, not so much." They all work hard. And in a matter of speaking, they all work smart. Especially if you're contending for a title year in and year out the way the Cadets, Cavaliers, and Blue Devils have for the past several years. There are three examples of very smart, very hard working drum corps. yes i get what you're trying to say. but in terms of wow moves visually and musically is seems the cavaliers RARELY do both at the same time, whereas some other corps do. Jimisback
What is the age of the corps members, average? And vets? I bet they are the highest as far as age. Just a guess. And the rest makes a perfect corps. Music, design, etc. But the biggest thing is talent and maturity of the members.
dc oldtimer
I was sitting in the office the other night admiring that impressive Jim Ott award on the display case thinking just how effective their brass program has become over the past series of years.. Stef, Next time you are in the office see if Marlene is working that day. She's my mom. She helps out 2 or 3 days a week depending on her busy retiree schedule. You know, shopping trips, casino's, matinee shows, etc.
Meaghatron
What is the age of the corps members, average? I read somewhere (can't remember where) that the average age is usually 19 or 20.
