Being a front ensemble player, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the fact that while the improvisation monologue was occurring, the guy doing the monologue was doing about the same things that his counterparts in the front ensemble were doing - it's like he wasn't even talking. I think for the time it was marched it made perfect sense, and that's why it was an awesome show. So, are we saying that because in today's drum corps age that shows from the 80's wouldn't be finalist material (due to whatever judging tastes/preferences/styles are in place) that they aren't good shows? It just seems to me that this show is lacking the championship swagger. I have to disagree here, I think of 1994 as being the epitome of BD swagger. That's one of my favorite shows as it turns out. But that is regardless of the point - I had taken your comment to mean that the show itself couldn't hold up today, which with today's judging I'm not sure any show from anyone in the past (5yrs or more) could hold up, new demands are being asked.
