Who if any corps will be on supplements this summer season or is this a one and done experiment? I think that the corps that integrated some of the new voices did a nice job. My favorite of last year was the baritone soloist from the Cavaliers. As for who might continue to integrate them, I have no idea who intends to. cowtown Posted March 5, 2015 Share Posted March 5, 2015 For me, only Spirit’s trombone solo worked or was worth The rest were gimmicks, props or poorly executed But in typical DCI fashion, every corps will have at least one moment with a different instrument to get that boxed ticked so the judges don’t penalize them for not utilizing ‘flexible and diverse’ (sardonic) instrumentation. Many uses will be tacked on and look tacked on and others will be trying too hard and come up short The promise of knowing how to do what they mastered in the band world already was just another lie Oh well, a few more corps can bleed their sponsors, resell the stuff post-season and upgrade the staff R-V while begging money for more tacky tarps (ouch) 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Probably not a consensus on that. I think Blue Stars french horn was changed to mello during finals week. frachel Posted March 6, 2015 Share Posted March 6, 2015 Hopkins mentioned on the Cadets webinar that they got, I think, about 10 French horns (I believe it was French horns, I was distracted somewhat)? He went into how they are $7k a piece but half were being loaned, and the other half were pre-sold to somewhere after the season. Of course, French horns may have to be miked since the bells are not forward. I have recollections of Star of Indiana in the end (or the early Brass Theater ensemble) using sound boards and battens to focus the sound forward at least for an extra concert piece they did outside at one contest.
