  1. Past hour
  2. Maybe the tread should be..."what corp could dethrone BD from the top." Right now BD is the big favorite and everyone else it's 2-12.
  3. While listening to the source material, I’ve also considered it to be a deconstruction theme potentially.
  4. I read the reference to SCV having a strong “brand” as meaning they are capable of good staff retention (which seems to be the case) and robust recruitment. I agree that if these and strong show design and execution lead to strong performances, that would be the only valid basis for strong placement.
  5. Yesterday’s Crown IG story showed the staff pitching the concept design to the corp. Anyone have word on what it is?
  6. We are two months out from the beginning of the season and more shows have moved to "TBD" this year. I knew this year was going to be tough. I just didn't expect it to be in flux this close to move-in. Here are all the TBD shows as of 29 April, 2024. TBD Ohio - 20 July TBD Syracuse - 23 July TBD MD - 30 July TBD NJ - 31 July
  7. Yes. I completely agree. This idea of blocks/bricks/lines/whatever they are seems like it could lend to a visual program that is much more concrete and physical than the last 2 years. And there is no better song for an ultimate culmination than "Lost It To Trying." They are designing this show with the end in mind, which really gets me excited. And the shift to red at the end of the video? A possible uniform change? Maybe props that change color? I'm gonna go crazy over the next couple months.

  9. Sounds like a trainwreck waiting to happen.
  10. Re SCV - ‘Brand’ should have NOTHING to do with placement. What should matter is the product on the field. Nothing else. The design and performance is what should determine where SCV places. They have top-notch staff. The question I have is what level of talent there is. I can see them placing anywhere from 14th-7th. But wherever they end up, it should be based on the performance on the field, not ‘Brand’. <<rant off>>
  11. Today
  12. Just from the visuals in the video, the idea of “four sections” by Reich, a percussion heavy source material, gives me vibes of a “frameworks” theme. Something foundational with build and ultimate culmination.
  13. The whole mind, body, soul theme doesn’t resonate well with the upper tiers of this activity.
  14. That is why I like you. No fear but knows the truth!
  15. Madison Scouts --- Show Tilted, ''Mosaic" https://www.instagram.com/p/C6UBG3Js4KO/?hl=en
  16. You’re right. I just re-watched the December video again. I wonder why I made that connection in my head without it actually being said? Interesting.
  17. The music selections are heavy percussion, I can see them gunning for caption awards for Percussion at finals. Can't wait to see the visual package and hear the execution of the music. I'm super excited to see something fresh and outside the box. Best of luck, BLUECOATS!!!!
  18. yes but....i think the people here are also very familiar with that too.
  19. Sounds like 18th to me at best. There are Texas high school bands who have done this theme and will do it better. That Guard staff is going to hold them back… Have fun scouts 🤣
  20. Did they actually change the theme? I rewatched the original video from December and I don’t see a theme mentioned anywhere. Unholy is just the first piece of repertoire mentioned.
  21. I liked what I saw there as well. Coherent design + better coordination + improved hornline choreo + modern guard design + percussion growth = good things are coming this season. Add Mackey writing an original closer?
  22. Honestly I've been keeping up with Crown's socials and they posted some videos of body visuals for brass members that they were working on. Let's just say their choreographers are cooking. I'm definetly seeing the vision of a dark show that some people have speculated on with all that they've show us so far in terms of visuals. What do yall think is the likelihood of Crown winning the GE or Guard Captions like in 2015 and 2016 respectively?
