  2. Nah, you can be concerned/interested about more than one thing at a time, and Jeff wouldn't be upset about the inevitable questions about his successor. Life goes on, and so do the Cadets.

  3. I have spoken to DCI (Friends of DCI) and they have been very accommodating. My only concern was having her stroller nearby so if she does get a little restless we can quickly move her away from the audience. For those who wouldn't want to sit next to a 1 year old, I fully understand your concerns. I too was once that person. Now though I've turned into one of those selfish parents who lives in that selfish parent bubble. Bearing that in mind, if you see me sitting nearby come introduce yourself and I'll be sure to stick a pin in her a*s just to p*ss you off. (insert a yet to be created British sense of humour emoticon because not all American quite get it and are now probably thinking #### he really is going to stick a pin in her a*s)

  4. Following the great season we have had including our 3rd tour to the DCA World Championships we are proud to announce our return to the United States in 2017. Of course our priorities are currently with the 2016 season, but we are giving members the option to secure their position for 2017 if they march with us in 2016. Keep an eye out for updates and make sure to 'like' our Facebook page!

  5. I marched with Darryl for 3 years at Cadets....amazing person. He writes the drill for the current BOA darling Claudia Taylor Johnson in TX. Look for a more avante guard approach. So sorry to hear about Jeff's wife wishing the best outcome in that situation. Will be thinking about you.

  6. Then we will definitely see if the costs associated with procuring all necessary rights to sell archival videos is worth it to the fans/members/parents. I think at this point we honestly don't know that answer to that definitively

  7. Nothing else concrete about Cadet's show, or music, was said last night.

  8. First off, no he hasn't written all the drill. Second, who cares who takes over. His wife has cancer, The design of the Cadets drill means nothing at this point. His wife's health is what our concern should be. They'll find someone qualified to put dots on some meaningless grid.

  9. This is fantastic. It takes a well prepared organization and extremely dedicated membership to pull off what you are doing. Now if you could only travel a bit further to Minnesota!

  12. Quite nice. But you know by August some judge jr. on DCP will be wanting the circles to be rotated simultaneously and others complaining it's a lift from some BOA or TX band.

  13. Or, you know, maybe the baby enjoys live music and wouldn't be a problem? Oddly enough every single human baby (at all ages) are wildly different and what you might've experienced could vary with different children. My wife and I are both public school music teachers, and we had a baby July 2014: he was born on a Thursday, and the following Friday he was at a concert I was conducting (the first time he and my wife had left the house for substantial time, or for anything other than groceries and doctor appointments). The concert started with a trashcan percussion ensemble piece I had put together, and it literally lulled the baby to sleep! The little guy was very peaceful and laid back during the concert, and only got a little cranky when the music stopped after the concert ended! He has been a staple at several of our concerts over the last 14+ months, and assuming he's napped, well-fed, etc. he's very laid back at the concerts. Obviously not all kids are like that, and some are flat-out nightmares in public (which according to my parents I was as a baby). I've known plenty of parents who's children grew up in drum corps, starting as an infant.

  14. There have been some very nice guard unison movements in recent memory. I actually like the scarcity of the full guard unison movement because it makes those unified movements all the more impactful.

  15. Is anyone going to address what it would like to be the person sitting next to the person bringing an1 yr old to finals? At the risk of sounding crotchety, I wouldn't want to be that one.

  18. if you want performance to count more, look at how they do it for A class guards in WGI or the Music sheet for WGI percussion. the problem with drum corps, especially for visual, is taste and style of drill to many is automatically equated with good performance. if you like a cadets frenetic movement for 11 minutes show, then of course that's great and performed well for you. If you like how BD does it, same thing. or Crown, who's kind of a mix of both. So really, in essence, it all comes down to the design anyways, but people can't admit it.
