  2. From all indications, the camps have gone really well for PC. They have a brass/drum major camp this coming weekend which will be the first in person one my son will be at so hopefully we hear a little of the show direction to see how they have matured. They have kept their corp designers and staff in place and have a great chance of really building off of last year depending on type of show they come up with. Best news out of all of this is PC has stayed away from any drama or major setbacks during the off season! With that said, many of the other corps seem to be having great off seasons too (Blue Knights, Spirit, etc.) so it's always just a matter of who executes the best by end of year! It's really looking like another exciting year for the multiple competitions within groups (top 4, 5 to 8, 9 to 13, etc.). I get what people think about Goddess as it may not have been the most "in your face" or uptempo show, but what it showed was great foundational marching and playing which was needed after "Void" year. Can't wait to spend another summer stalking the corp and enjoying many of y'alls company as we watch the shows virtually together!

  3. Covid in 2020 derailed all the momentum they had coming off 2019. I believe they shot up five or six spots in the last two weeks of the season, and darn near caught SOA for 13th. We'll never know, but I believe if not for Covid, PC would have been a Finalist or at the very least a serious contender for the 12th spot in 2020. I am rooting for them big time this year, and I hope they can perform on Saturday night in Indy.

  4. This time last year, if I told you the Mandarins would finish the 2023 season in 6th place, challenge Cadets for 5th all the way to finals night, and go unbeaten vs Phantom Regiment and Cavaliers, you probably would have laughed yourself to death, and any credibility I might have had with you would've been blown to bits. There was nothing predictable about the Mandarins historic rise in 2023. There is still plenty of shock and awe in DCI.

  5. Just scanned this thread, so I probably missed some things. COTC was so bad no one wanted to submit a synopsis of the show on IMDB . The one posted there is mine. I was really disappointed they couldn't use any of the music the corps were playing. I seem to recall a snippet or two (from other corps) during the Finals episode. That killed it for me. That is all.

  6. Someone's doing a Mel Brooks show?

  7. A little mystique used to be nice, i.e. not knowing with much if any certainty who was getting into Finals and/or winning. Now DCI is as predictable as a Kardashian failed relationship with any guy dumb enough to get involved with one.

  8. It is all about the show design. The talent level this year is high enough to take them 4-5 places higher than last year. I’m looking forward to a significant rebound in 2024.

  9. I've been putting Dr. Atomic out there for awhile. Yeah there's lots of good parts.

  10. IDK. But you certainly don’t see the big placement fluctuations season to season as in the old days. In 1980-81 SCV went from 7th to 1st. Does anyone think that in 2024 Phantom can move to 1st (they were 7th in 2023)?

  11. Has something changed in judging? Are you saying in modern Drum Corps that previous years placement/scoring can be tied to the current year placement/scoring?

  12. One thing I really liked about olden days was that current year scores and placement didn’t seem to depend on previous years results (consider 27 from 73-75 — 7th, 20th, 4th). IDK if it was the judges calling it as they saw it, or the construction of the sheets. Or something else
