  1. this thread makes college football fans look nice... posted from the DrumScorps app
  2. As did I, I knew none of it. The Zappa tune has me really excited and the Jonsi piece sound like it can be another hauntingly beautiful ballad.
  3. This is GREAT news!!!!! In the last 5 minutes we already have a group of friends and everyone is chipping in 10 bucks. . . BOOM a finals watch party! Love it, thanks DCI!!!!!
  4. Vanguard Cadets are rolling into Alcott MS (Norman) at around 6am, they are not staying overnight.
  5. I can't speak for Cadets, but if I was told correctly the Cavaliers will have a different version of the closer on the field for Atlanta, they have been working on it this week but are holding back till the regional to put it all on.
  6. They are actually going to be in the Little Rock area tomorrow if my information is correct, at least that's where they are going tonight after the DCI Central Oklahoma show; they were having an issue with a housing site, my guess somewhere in Memphis.
  7. Holste! What's up man?! I'll look for ya at the show tonight! Spent the day with the Bluecoats where I teach and had a blast, as an alumni it was certainly a treat. I've seen the Cavaliers way early season and am excited to see where they have come since then. And I am extremely eager to see the Cadets on the field tonight. I got to jump over and see Vanguard a bit and am curious as to see how their whole production comes together. AND AND AND, most importantly this will be my girlfriends first viewing of Drum Corps, of which I am very excited to have her experience. Excited for a great show in central Oklahoma tonight!
  8. I had the opportunity to check it out tonight, sorry it's late, I had to drive back to the Oklahoma City area. Not knowing much about the show at all it was nice to take everything in without any preconceived notions. I will not saying specific because I don't want to ruin anything, but the 2 things I took away were: 1. Holy crap the hornline is loud, loudest Cavie hornline I have ever heard. 2. I think it's a pretty darn innovative show, pretty cool stuff going on. And that's it :) I know a couple of the staff members and I know they are really excited about what is going on, and I myself was impressed with the package they have our there right now.
  9. Wow, a great video that does a fantastic job at capturing the spirit and ideology of the activity.
  10. blooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo those are my 2 cents at this point :)
  11. This is the first year in 11 years that I will not be attending the Dallas show. Rar.
  12. I'm ready! BA is the end of my 3 day mini-tour: Wichita, Edmond, and now Broken Arrow. Really curious to see the cavaliers show this year, haven't felt that way in a while.
  13. Last word I heard was Spirit is rehearsing till about 2:30 at Norman High
  14. Just had my first viewing of this show on fan network and I must say I think this is the most positive I've felt of a show in a couple of years. To me this show doesn't feel forced like a couple of others in the past have seemed to me. The theme is there, but it isn't slapping me in the face, which I appreciate. I feel that there will be a lot more development visually, but I like what is there right now. I think the music is kicking and the horn-line is playing!!! Love the show Bluecoats! 6 words
  15. I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT!!! But just buying a new house the extra cash just isn't there right now :/ I'm going to have to actually exercise patience.
  16. of course I voted bluecoats but then again I'm a little biased ;) 2005 bluecoats aside I'd put my in for 2000 boston, LOVE that show.
  17. Agreed! Back to the topic of this thread. I'm very excited about this change for the Cavaliers. In all honesty I can say I have not been excited about a Cavaliers performance for years now. With some new changes and different approaches I really think this will interject some new excitement and new results in terms of show design and performance. And come on, it's the Cavaliers, one of the storied DCI organizations; are they going to just go out and hire anyone? This new staff has talent and produced good results from a Troopers hornline this last year that arguably had less talent than the Cavaliers had and probably will have. (That's by no mean a bash, it's reality).
  18. In all honesty it's pretty simple, just call. The hard part is for you, whether you want to do it for free (or fun) or for pay. If you're looking for pay then that narrows down the options; also if you're looking to get paid that's where the experience, or lack-there-of comes more into play. On the other hand if you just want the experience and want to be around the activity, give a director a call and offer your services. I'd be willing to bet that if you start off pro-bono and you prove to be helpful and useful the director will find a way to compensate you. Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part.
  19. In all honesty I choose Bluecoats because they had Texas auditions, I have never seen a Bluecoats show before auditioning.
  20. I was always the opposite, I'd put weight on. Being a skinny dood with a fast metabolism, the consistency of meals and the high carbs really helped me out, and any weight I put on was welcome weight.
  21. Good size crowd in Norman, OK and there was only one 2 second hiccup, but other than that I was extremely pleased with the quality. Crown, Cadets, and Vanguard still reign supreme in my book.
  22. My thoughts exactly, love the press, but really? Criminal and On Air? Good shows, but no where near top 10.
  23. Bluecoats - Autumn Leaves Brings back a flood of memories every time I hear it.
