  1. Article: http://lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_8be5c36c-9311-11e0-9c71-001cc4c03286.html Average age of 20.....
  2. IF the judges can avoid their usual "place them the same as last year's Finals" in the early shows, and they can actually judge the performances on the field each night, then we should see some movement within the top 8, and most likely among the top 11, early in the season this year. However, that is a very big IF.
  3. SCV just announced openings last night. It's affecting almost every corps. It's injuries plus economics.
  4. I hope that is just some sort of brass ensemble. There are only about 30-32 horns in that picture.
  5. Based on the news coming from Milwaukee, I could see at least five OC corps beating the lowest-placing WC corps.
  6. Based on the picture in this thread, it looks like 80 horns to me in June....
  7. Not to be a butt, but I have to wonder how a corps whose "numbers are a bit smaller than years past" is going to be competitive at WC Prelims against this: Music City
  8. Wow. THAT looks pretty impressive. Hope their quality matches their quantity. They could really scare some people this year .
  9. Based on some Facebook posts, Blue Stars left Indianapolis with the visual show complete.
  10. ^^^THIS^^^ Color guard has such a big impact on the overall show and the scores in today's drum corps. If Troop is having problems filling the guard (again), it may be really tough to make the top 12 they are striving for. BTW, I like both uniforms. Still says "Troopers" to me, but the modern cut is a big improvement.
  11. ####. That drops off pretty quick. Not a very pretty picture IMHO. Kind of a shame that recruiting at this level is so hard nowadays. There are so many kids that get cut from WC corps that could benefit soooo much with just one year in OC. Wish those kids could understand that concept. It would help the whole activity so much.
  12. The only thing that is really needed "to improve the quality of the product (from a fan's perspective, or from a potential fan's perspective) top to bottom" is MONEY. Unfortunately, there is never going to be enough of that lying around to truly improve the current status quo. There is such a huge difference between the WC financial model ($1M+ per year) and the OC model ($100K - $200K) that money is the only thing that will truly solve the disparity.
  13. http://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php/topic/145624-dear-16-year-old-me/ ^^THIS^^ Do NOT make mistakes now that will cost you dearly in ten or twenty years.
  14. BINGO! Music City, the OC DCI corps, is having a very successful year and this HAD to have an effect on recruiting for MCL. Hopefully, as people age-out from Music City in the next few years, MCL can pick up some of these people and return to the field.
  15. Also hope they have plenty of $$$$ in the bank when they do decide to hit the field. Too many one-and-dones in OC.
  16. How about Madison, VEGAS, and Indy . THAT would definitely give everyone something to do when not going to the shows.
  17. Actually, I believe that Garbage men are now known as Sanitation Engineers. Similar to: Housewives = Domestic Engineers Gas station attendants = Petroleum Distribution Engineers Sound Board Operators = Audio Engineers Cooks = Nutritional Engineers Seamstress = Garment Modification Engineers Drivers = Vehicle Conveyance Engineers Souvie crew = Retail Merchandising Engineers
  18. Awesome tune. And that young lady is pretty nice to look at too .
  19. Do NOT stress over what the judges do. You cannot control it, most times cannot change it, so do not sweat it. Perform to the best of your ability and just enjoy the experience.
