  1. Thanks so much for the GCS comments Cozy and Scott! We really dig this show and it seems to be translating well to the audience. Rockmart was an absolute blast, GREAT GREAT CROWD!!!! Wish we could perform for them every weekend. Thanks for everyone involved in getting this show organized and for running it so smoothly. The rain and subsequent cool-off was also well appreciated. Since we are from Houston, we were ready for 102 degrees and 99% humidity, but the change of climate was very nice! Also thanks to all the talented and hardworking corps in attendance. We definitely "Rocked" Rockmart. See everyone in Rochester!! b**bs
  2. HAaaaa! Exactly. Good one, Liam! b**bs
  3. Really liked your message. Well said. The last part about supporting the Madison Alumni Corps (last 8 lines or so) can also really be applied to any corps at any level. Thanks!
  4. Craig, You guys ROCKED!! My friends in the stands were awed. You guys brought some serious showmanship and style to our show. Thanks for being a big part of our success. Looking forward to continued collaboration in the future!
  5. Absolutely. Well said, Vic. Also many thanks to the entire GCDCA board. 9 months of planning and effort for one day. You guys and gals are inspirations for everyone that wants to see drum corps thrive and grow in Texas and beyond.
  6. 2 days away! Real drum corps in Houston, Texas! See all variations of the art form. Get your tickets today (see link below)! b**bs
  7. If you really can go anywhere, just go to http://www.dcacorps.org and find a show to go to and go asap. Then, ultimately go to finals in Rochester this next Labor Day weekend and check it all out and see what you like. If you have the passion and desire, there is a place for you somewhere and we will be happy to have your involvement.
  8. ^OO^ You are right on the money, skyDog. Looking forward to seeing you guys too! Rochester will be rockin' b**bs
  9. Great review Dave! Looking forward to seeing your old corps Saturday!
  10. Great review, agree with most of your general points. Disagree however with the SCV - Crown statement though. Crown absolutely rocked and the design is actually superior to SCV. This show concept is very interesting and entertaining, and they emulate it perfectly. This show is loaded with soft body positioning and subtle movements that are EXTREMELY effective with the visual package. Hornline was ON FIRE!! GREAT MELLOS!!! Looking forward to seeing this show as much as possible this summer, and see it grow. WAY TO GO CROWN!! * Also wanted to comment that the show venue was terrific! The new CY-Fair stadium has surprisingly good accoustics, and great seating. The ticketing and parking was handled by CSC (does the Houston Texans NFL games) and done very well by my vantage point. Hope to see drum corps there again! **Geluf, looking forward to seeing Polaris someday soon. Houston definitely needs a quality junior corps. Best of luck!
  11. Just get them both. Thats about as classic as it gets for 80s drum corps, and my personal favorite overall 80's years. You won't regret it.
  12. Just a correction, Gulf Coast Sound's first show is actually July 29th (probably a typo), not the 20th. Thanks for the score update!
  13. Barb- Shhhh We are spreading the word to members this weekend that the weather report said clear, 65 degrees and 23% Relative Humidity for Houston. Just another typical beautiful day in the Lone Star State. B)
  14. Great Review Barb!!! b**bs I am totally "shades of green" with envy that you went to this show. It was great hearing your perspective on the Chops and the Govies. Class A will be super-competitive as usual. Can't wait to see you back in Houston, have a safe trip back.
  15. about 12 minutes. b**bs I moved to Houston (1300 miles) not realizing there is a corps in Houston. Now that I am aware, I would have made the trip every camp. Good thing I moved.
  16. the 'gades are just evil. ^0^ seriously though, great review of Indy. It was very refreshing having informative, factual reporting on the senior groups performing as well as juniors.
  17. Wow! Congrats to Jeff and MVE!! Its a great feeling having a permanent place to put your feet down and grow roots. This is a great announcement for MVE, DCA class A and Open Class and for the future of our activity.
  18. WOw. GCS is the "option", who wouldn't want to march with that incredible bass line?? By the way, our practices are open to the public, feel free to drop on by. Check our website (listed at the bottom of message) for maps, times, and schedule. Also, don't forget that we are hosting our very own show July 29th! Come see drum corps at St. Pius High School (north Houston)! b**bs
  19. WOw. Very funny. Great Job! Can't wait for the sequel.
  20. Its sort of sounds a little like a "chicken and the egg" discussion, ie do we need more DCA corps with the currently smaller number of "DCA" shows across the country (which comes first more corps or more shows)? In all respect, yes we absolutely do. We need more corps to be able to support more shows. More shows means more exposure, more interest, and more DCA. Maybe its a naive approach, but the average person in our great nation still has no idea about DCA. More people are becoming aware of DCI, but thats still a relatively small percentage. Our activity is still too much of an underground kind of thing. This has to change. Does this have to change at the expense of II/III? No, there is plenty of room for both. Our activity is still offering a very unique opportunity which is inherently different than what a school age kid can get from his high school or college program. Does it really matter that there aren't a lot of shows in June?
  21. Yeah, if you have any doubt at all- just get something. Even the cheapest kinds will remove at least 15 dB if not more. I lost some of my upper range in my right ear from Aluminum milling machines (8 years of it). Try to imagine putting a price on being able to hear some screeching sopranos at a really good drum corps show. You can't.
  22. Great review Barb. Fair and balanced. For anyone considering coming out next year, just do it. The acoustics were awesome! It was really a blast playing at the Texas capital, just a great gig all the way around.
  23. What? Can someone shed some light on this issue, and what happened here please.
  24. It was great seeing you guys yesterday, Chris. Frontier seems to be growing all the time! Thanks for the compliment on our unis, they seemed to be well received. What a great day for Texas Drum and Bugle Corps. Its so exciting seeing everyone grow and take this activity to the next level. Thanks Brent and friends for throwing all of this together. We had a blast!!!
  25. Sounds like fun.. I'll bring my horn! See ya'll tomorrow! b**bs
