  1. Well we know that Regiment's drill in the closer was brand new in San Antonio, so it was the judges first time seeing it, and the kids first time performing it in front of the panel, so you have to take that into account. They also have a run of rehersal days before Allentown. As for major changes, who knows, but doubtful. They just need to keep cleaning and adding layers of GE. The music is as always their strongest caption, and some slight GE improvement may pull them up a place or two. Still lots of time to go and all the other corps are going through the same situations of last minute changes and cleaning. It will keep it exciting.
  2. Granny, just make sure you wash that brat down with some Spotted Cow beer!! That beer alone was inspiration in my 4-years as a student there and is just one of the many reasons to be back in Madison. Just make sure you smuggle some back for me, it's only sold in Wisconsin!! Since I won't be in Madison tomorrow I guess I'll have to take one out from my special stash in the fridge and just watch it on the internet. Make me proud granny. FYI...my own grandma went bar hopping with me in Madison back in my day, so I expect full recaps of multiple establishments (preferably one attached with each detailed review of the corps performances) so we can all have a great Madison experience.
  3. Radar looks like some rain coming through the area in the next hour or so. Hopefully it clears up, on my way from Chicago down. Keep weather updates available!!
  4. All that keeps rolling through my mind in this whole thread is where is Terrance.I.McGee to straighten us all out. Kidding. I am excited to see the show Saturday night in Rockford, and if it's half as good as the previews sound I will have to skip out and make it down to Bloomington/Normal before they head on their west coast trip. As for the few words, I am all for it. How is it any different that when The Cadets screamed BEEF in '96? It got the crowd more involved in the show and I didn't have to worry about a singer who didn't actually sing real words, fluffy bunnies with teapots and someone in a not so fun red dress, or Napoleon Dynamite (Disclaimer.....I am not a Cadet basher, they are always one of the top musicians and marchers over the past 20 years I have seen shows.... when they acutally focus on M&M (2000, 2003, etc)). Obviously two VERY different applications, by the same corps I might add, that were very accepted and one not so much.
  5. I can see Hoppy's point, but last time I checked he was the one who put the rules on the table to add amplification and electronics to take away from the drumlines supressing the other 'voices' on the field. Now he is concerned about the drums. It's just Hoppy's plug for more electronics to make up for the reverb of the possibility of a closed retractable roof. ps... Besides Jackson Quarters 1993 and Orlando Quarters 2003 I cannot remember any significant rain, so once again DCPers, lets not put the cart before the horse on another topic that is 16 months away. There are far too many more trolls to be killed between now and then.
  6. This year...Colts (which actually was also their closer from Sunset Blvd) All-time: 1993 Phantom Regiment - Fire of Eternal Glory
  7. Where is that NBA referee who helped shave points when you need him? I could have made a ton of $$ tonight if I would have bet at the track on the 20:1 odds Cadets would have gotten a penalty and then gotten it reversed. ####, looks like I have to pay off my credit card with my flights and tickets off legitimately now.
  8. Don't forget the helicopter that kept flying over the stadium.
  9. there is another thread on this too...We are all typing too quick for the mods to merege everything together
  10. So much for anyone going to sleep tonight. Just when you thought people beat a topic to death ended another one starts. Ahhh the glory of finals week :) Too bad we cant have any more ties. That is about the only thing that would have made this week any more dramatic.
  11. New DCI Rule proposal: Only the following items can be uttered by anyone viewing a drum corps activity: Bluuuu Vanguard SUTA An occasional baby cry (only from when the baby is tossed, err hurled, onto the field because of something amazing, and not the crying because they pooped themselves) Do you have any paint? Did you bring any more babies to throw? Splooie and finally... CHEERING
  12. I am mad that the stadium lights kept buzzing the entire night. I thought the cecedas in the midwest were annoying this summer. I think the lights humming all night covered up most of the boo's IMO. PS - None of the kids were booed. Hopkins was. Still not right to boo and I was not happy with the people booing, but I assure you that the 135 fine musicians of the Cadets were not booed. The kids perform the hell out of the show that they have designed for them, and the people know that. It's just some people don't agree with design, and that's a topic that has been debated for years. I agree with your frustration, but lets put the correct spin on where the negative emotions were directed. (I am not a Hoppy Hater either and am not condoning the booing...I am just saying lets all look "outside the looking glass"
  13. 1st...The field was horrible tonight, much like 2003 in Orlando. The whole seating in the venue wasn't spectacular either. 2nd... No one booed The Cadets, they booed George. The larger boo you heard was when George did a bow at about the 45 when the block was leaving the field. Unclassy for the fans to boo, even less class was shown by bowing to the crowd. That more or less set off the fans even more. Everyone is entitled to a proper field, but everyone is also entitled to an equal playing field. Kudos DCI for taking a timing stance. The penalty tonight will not have any bearing on scores tomorrow. Only thing I am upset about is Hopkins and the other guy he was with in the blue polo CHASING down Dan Acheson after their score was announced. Hoppy was blowing up at about the 50 yard line but Dan motioned him to take it to the south tunnel. So at least both guys could 'talk' more in private instead of making a huge display at the 50.
  14. The new thing for Regiment was their closer. You could tell it was a little dirty, but there is one thing though that was NOT dirty at all.....LEG WEDGE!!!! I think somehow people really forgot to mention that!
  15. You cannot have a random draw ever again because it would take away the wonderful theory of the 's' word...slotting (and then threads on DCP would dwindle to merely bashing Hoppy and the Cadets and Scouts management), duh.
  16. Good show line up for one of the Cavies 'home shows' tonight in Michigan City, IN. Can Bloo stay ahead of Cavies again? Can Colts stay ahead of Glassmen after winning the last head-to-head, and how much will the Blue Stars creep back up against them both? Just pulled the Lineup and OTL times for today from the Colts site and there are some interesting time slots. Let's see how the scores reflect it tonight. 7:30 pm Central Start time Glassmen Bluecoats Pioneer Colts (9:13 PM) Blue Stars The Cavaliers
  17. It will be even better to hear how JD Shaw arranges it as well, seeing it is one of Regiment's encores for this year. One of Regiment's camp videos on YouTube has it playing in the background...already drooling to hear it when I get to see them for the first time this year at the Show of Shows in Rockford. Is it June 23rd yet???
  18. I know DCI was trying to tell Regiments 11 minute story in only 3, but come on, how many close up guard shots do you need (especially when you missed the HUGE hit when they changed the baldrics to white)...ahhh. That was probably my favorite part of the show, minus all of Ave Maria. Then again just another reason for me to go out and buy the DCI DVD, and Phantom's "On the road DVD" (and any other souvies that are still left over from the flooding...I say wash up the T-shirts and sell them cheap. #### even lie and say some were from the Great Atlanta Flood of Section 324. Anything to support them more) And also with the Cadets...why not focus on some really great parts of their show like White Rabbit or the Tea Party and let the whole controversial singing blah crap die. I think we all had our fair share of beating on the Cadets in threads all summer so lets show portions of the show that are just in your face Cadets and not have old Dennis put his two cents in about controversy. Ok, my troll went back under his bridge :)
  19. I live in Addison, literally one mile from DCI offices.... 45 minutes (with no traffic....like that ever happens in Chicago) to get downtown Chicago... 45 min-1 hr hr to get to Rockford. So if DCI offices being 45 minutes are considered "chicago" why not Rockford.
  20. This article was already posted... http://www.madison.com/tct/news/index.php?...592&ntpid=0 But 2014 is still open, must be some conflict in Indy...so only possibly 6 years then a one year break ?!?!? So only some monotany b**bs
  21. DCI.org had it posted that morning of show line ups .... http://dci.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=cc4eb...34-96fd44dc06eb Was also in the Free DCI update they hand out everywhere. And I don't want to hear anyone didn't have internet access...you were 1/2 block from a major university campus who did have multiple computers about 100 feet from where the busses parked.
  22. Or you could have been smart like the people in my section were and called people at home...scores were up online. I was given (corretly) the BD and Cavie score about 15 minutes before it was announced. Sorry 10:46 pm, the published time the Scouts Alums were to go on, which was posted before the show, was well past your bed time. Where else did you have to go that was so important that night? Also, give some of these kids their moments in the spotlight for the I & E winners. How many times is the Colt Cadet girls who won the dance I & E portion ever going to get to stand up in front of 15,000 people and have them cheer for them at this point in their lives. Hopefully they will be lucky enough to march for many years to come and get some great crowd reactions, but I'm sure to them that was pretty #### special and worth the extra 10 minutes you had to wait.
  23. The 50 different groups of people yelling "Go Johnny" or whoever they were yelling for during Ave Maria during Regiment. Was bad enough one or two people did it in the upper deck, but when about 15 different people yelled it in a 30 second span in one of the most emoitional parts of the show deserved the middle finger given to them by the guy sitting in the front of them.
