This would be the perfect time to revisit the scoring system. Or more precisely, a time for judges to get their "minds right" about the activity. Expanding creativity is a noble goal, but fans are buying tickets to be entertained, not enlightened. Despite hours of consideration, I cannot come up with a way to create a "Classic" division, where some corps can perform old school shows without being slaughtered by judges. My feelings on electronics, if a corps can perform their show as if electronics would not affect the total performance. Technical difficulty delays should be penalized (one point for each minute delay). My $0.02.

This is for every corps show theme: If you can't summarize the concept in more than three sentences (ideally three key words), you're overthinking, which will not impress fans.

I believe DCI needs to clearly define amplification versus electronics. Based on last night's cinecast, I hear way too much synth bass throughout nearly all shows.

Show descriptions requiring more than one paragraph make me think of navel gazing, or lack of oxygen by designers. Judges, don't get me started. When they buy a show ticket, their own travel expenses and souvies, I'll slightly consider their competitive opinions (and no pressure on corps to change uniforms) As far as old school, I'd like to see pre-show inspections return.

I love how caption scores have been all over the place all season. IMHO, medalists are set, although placement not locked in. Crown's percussion has finally gotten judges to take them seriously and score accordingly.

People who think Indianapolis is boring have never left their hotels or Lucas Oil Stadium. My only suggestion would to let restaurants and bars stay open later Friday and Saturday nights and maybe make deals with local cab companies for better rates. Since 95% of hotels are Marriott owned property, don't expect any price deals. Shuttle buses to get fans greater ease to see other parts of the city would be a cost benefit and a win-win for local businesses. I'll admit I love Indy after living there two years (even before the downtown boom), but I understand the city needs to work more on expanding visitors' experience.

Crown has finally overcome judges' bias that the battery is never a contender and is finally taking them seriously. Crown has now gone full circle. Percussion pushed Crown into Top 12 in the '90s, Color guard has always been strong and now Brass is Jim Ott worthy every year.

Entertaining the audience should weigh more in GE captions. My college band director (Mr. Jack White ULM, The Sound of Today) called it the popcorn effect. Move the audience enough that the guy eating popcorn will get up and applaud. I would also figure out a way in visual to give credit to the EE (Exposure to Error) scoring. Finally, judging should have no impact on whether corps should change uniform design or completely change unis. My $0.02.

Crownisking, you make a valid point. I have no problem with electronics enhancing any show. My issue are shows relying too heavily on them.

My only opinion regarding electronics: Does the show make sense if power fails and generators are empty?
