  1. Considering where this show was, the crowd reaction comment doesn't surprise me, heh. As for the rest...
  2. Probably one of my least favorite BD shows. Great opener, though.
  3. Or just call your opinion what it is, your opinion.
  4. Asking people to name 6 shows _they_ feel are the 'best shows of 2009' probably will result in a list that doesn't necessarily coincide with what some would consider most 'crowd pleasing'. Heh. Different strokes, for different folks.
  5. If I had to pick six, for me it would be (in no particular order): SCV Blue Devils Cavaliers Boston Cadets Phantom
  6. There are (and were) other corps dealing with 'flu like ilness[es]', so I don't think that really sets them back behind the 'res of the DCI universe.' That said, not sure why you feel the need to label others, who don't exactly share the same views as you, as homers to elevate Crown. It's not doing them any favors. I think most will agree Crown is doing great this year. In fact, your posts are coming off very "homerish" in their own right. It's like calling the kettle black.
  7. An amusing thing, as well Way to go SCV!
  8. Agreed. What they need to do, more than anything, is clean what they _already_ have. It would be one thing if they had already nailed that...
  9. That's basically what it boils down to. "I don't like what 'they're' coming up with, so 'they're' designs are flawed." Of course, that will probably remain true for the vast majority of shows (or at least elements of them) unless one specifically designed it themselves.
  10. Heh. How many championships have the Cavaliers won? And how many have Crown won? I wouldn't count them out just yet. They're executing their show very well, as is Crown. That said, I don't see Crown passing Blue Devils, but I do think HNC and Crown will continue to flip-flop.
  11. I see a few corps doing "new stuff" from what _they've_ done in previous years. But, not a whole lot of stuff that hasn't been done by other corps in some way, shape or form in years past. So, I guess they're all "dead fish," heh.
  12. Agreed. I don't think it'll just be the Cadets passing Crown at the end of the season, as well. I see Crown perhaps peaking a bit too early, but meh, we'll see...
  13. Biased, no doubt, but Star '93 HM: '84 BD, '98 SCV
  14. Indeed, they do (depending on the type of glove). Personally, I prefer just grip tape; although, there are drummers that swear by their "drummer" / batting gloves. Anyway, as for the headgear, it doesn't really matter what they wear for me.
  15. There are a few companies (such as West Coast Music Service and Mark Custom Recordings Service, Inc.) you can buy the CDs from (provided they're in stock), as the service bands/corps do not sell them themselves. They mostly carry the service bands, but occasionally carry recordings of the corps as well. Other than that, your best bet is to contact the academy's Public Affairs Office. They'll distribute what they have, but like someone else mentioned, when they're gone, they're gone.
  16. There is dirt in _every_ championship show. They may not have deserved the score they received, but I do think they deserved that spread, which, as someone else has already theorized, is why they got the score they did.
  17. 1. Holy Name 2. Cavaliers 3. Blue Devils 4. Phantom Regiment 5. Carolina Crown 6. Santa Clara Vanguard 7. Bluecoats 8. Blue Stars 9. Blue Knights 10. Boston Crusaders 11. Crossmen 12. Glassmen
  18. Well, at least they can still claim they've made every DCI finals since it began back in '72, not something any other corps can. Anything's possible.
  19. Then again, most predictions in here (dcp) are like hot air balloons...
