  1. I can't get enough of this show (yeah, I know there's not much into this post, but that's all I can say really)
  2. This actually isn't completely true, SCV '08 asked for audience participation with the snaps, claps, etc. during Cloudburst. I imagine it was confusing then to find your designated guard person (ha), but this looks a little more fun.
  3. Haven't been to a DCI event in the theaters so I can't comment on that. I probably won't either because the only theater in my area that showed it at any time smells of feces.... I don't understand applause at the end of a movie either. Or friends that do it at sporting events, but who am I to judge? Truth be told, I don't feel it's natural but they may. I am a very reserved person whereas someone else may be more emotive (I notice that these types clap more, who'da thunk?). While I agree slightly with the OP, it may come down to just going with the flow b/c people show their support different from you.
  4. Reminds me a little of BD 97 opener uniforms.
  5. Here are the responses I got when I asked this same question: My link
  6. South Shore didn't exactly make a breezy entry into IO that everyone and myself predicted. Opus 10 looks to be making waves again this year with a 90.2.
  7. It's because no one is posting vids on youtube this year!
  8. Conflicted about my feelings for Carmel's show this year. They are obviously a good guard with great material, but that darn narrator (is it the students? sorry if that's the case) really ruins the show for me. Better on mute.
  9. Me thinks you put more thought into my comment than I did. Ha!
  10. I don't see what the big deal is. From the bad vantage point that I had with a video, looks like an army going after people with Merlin beards. I certainly could see if that's offensive to magicians...
  11. Looks like Flanagan 8 pointed them at W. Broward (77.8 to 69.5), but haven't seen ANY shows (not on FN this year).
  12. Not comparing it to the others, but here is just my opinion which amounts to nothing: -some ideas/staging slow to develop -second half of program a step-down in quality and difficulty from first half -movement looks a little SO, maybe those little ball things didn't help
  13. Tough call. I voted 2006, but I have to give honorable mention to 2002 which doesn't get any love.
  14. Was trying to find an answer for you and I came up with nil also....Don't want to assume anything, but maybe it's a personal choice to move down?
  15. Sorry, what I'm trying to say (it's kind of hard to be honest) is if they are any DCI shows that would go well as a winterguard show and vice versa for a WGI show...
  16. Since we're waiting for the slow last months before the 2012 season begins, I've been pondering something of late. It's often said that you can never compare dci guards with wgi guards, they're too different and when describing the two, people will use vague adjectives describing the work "big" or "small." Soooo, there has to be a handful of dc guard shows that would've probably been better suited for the indoor arena and vice versa for winterguard. This obviously doesn't mean that one is "badly written" if they wrote it this way, just that certain design elements, staging, equipment work, mvmt., etc. reflects the other activity more so. Here are a few picks- (DCI) 2001 Crown-Besides the abundance of equipment, everything about this show would have worked better as a WGI show IMO (DCI) 2011 Cavies-Amazing, but the opener staging often reminds me of a WG. This isn't a detriment at all. (WGI) 2005 Logan-Either way. It's intense, awesome, fast at times...I could totally see this in a drum corps show (even though it's HS) (WGI) 2003 Fantasia-Not necessarily for much, just that the work is LOUD and the costuming is akin to something you would see in a 2011 drum corps... I know this is ridiculous, but can you come up with any (hopefully better than mine)? These are just off the top of my head.
  17. Should be back to amazing. I love this team, so we'll see.
  18. Shapiro had his chance there. I'm not saying it couldn't happen again but I still remember the snakes and overwritten mess of 01-02 (I loved it and was fun, but very dirrrrtttyy). Besides, Shapiro is good for BS, so I hope he stays there. Townsend should just stay and continue on to make what made those few years before so great. I really didn't understand the staff addition in 09, why fix it if it aint broke?
  19. He's been to 4(!) different corps guards just in the past decade. Chances are he won't go back to these places: SCV and Phantom. IMHO, I didn't think he was the best fit at Crown though many will disagree. It seems like they had to make an adjustment when he arrived in terms of written work (or at least with how the 07-08 shows were designed, hell, even 06).
