  1. Stale. After seeing them live tonight that's the only way I can describe it, stale.
  2. I watched an hour of intense rehearsal and a run through Saturday afternoon. There's so much more cleaning to do. The rehearsal was very focused and I got the impression the members know they have their work cut out for them. Man, that opener comes off as so subtle yet is masking some very intricate brass playing. This show has legs.
  3. They were fantastic! I took three newbies to the show and they loved Madison. I had my doubts about them but last night was a turning point for me. There were tons of changes with the "gotta dance" character that eliminated so many cringe worthy moments. They sounded wonderful. I really don't care where they end up SATURDAY night. This is an incredibly entertaining show.
  4. I'm currently watching Genesis rehearse. The crowd is going to eat this up!
  5. FYI American Ballet Theater is currently staging Prokofiev's Cinderella. Unfortunately the reviewer in the NYT didn't have anything to say about the music.
  6. I don't think you know what that means.
  7. I would rather read someone's pseudo-intellectual ramblings and roll my eyes over it than wade through some of the bloviation about what I feel are the most mundane things.
  8. I'm curious to see how Genesis breathes new life into Phantom. I can't wait to see them on July 3.
  9. Thanks for the info, Luv. I'm glad you put "dark" in parenthesis. That was never my impression of OC, however, I can see how some (flawed) people might think that. Even though 2013 dealt with death I found it very life affirming. I remember messaging you and gushing about that show. I guess 2014 could have been considered "dark" subject matter.
  10. That's sharp! I'm looking forward to catching their rehearsal before the Cedarburg, Wi show on July 3. Thanks Genesis for making the trip up to Wisconsin again. Sorry/not sorry for derailing the world class forum with talk of an open class corps. Go Genesis!
  11. I really loved the direction they have been going the last 3-4 years. Is this show a departure from that? Regardless, I'm sure I'll still enjoy OC tremendously. Is there a new program coordinator this season?
  12. I'm looking forward to see what they di with this. In this day and age you don't choose music from something like Mary Poppins unless you plan on being very creative and entertaining. I think they'll breathe some new life into this music.
  13. I'll be heading down shortly. Cadets are rehearsing fairly close to Lisle so maybe I'll catch some of that. So excited!
  14. I was very curious as to how they would use Send in the Clowns. I love the mashup with I Will Never Leave You. So much potential for some inventive "conjoined" guard work. I think it's going to be a very emotional ballad.
  15. Here are my thoughts. I may be way off base but this struck me as what must have been a punch to the gut. July 21, 2014 Cajun Field Lafayette, LA Louisiana Stars 65.450 (Their fourth show as a new Open Class corps) Pioneer 65.40 World and Open were on the same sheets in 2914. That had to hurt! But... That's the past. I'm excited to see the results of what must have been an incredible recruiting effort. Cheers to Pioneer!
  16. Excellent news from Pioneer. The members must be so excited. Better Every Day!
  17. Michel Legrand The Young Girls From Rochefort http://youtu.be/2YhLVfE4-NM http://youtu.be/TwC5l35NLgs http://youtu.be/uopjMuYY3F8
  18. rShe even gets in on the act by forming an X with her arms.
  19. There's a musical moment in the beginning that is just screaming for an X-Pull. Wouldn't that be clever.
