  1. Bump. Sounding good so far! https://instagram.com/p/BEmJIYwJheG/
  2. I would absolutely rejoice if they finally bring back the cream. The last few uniforms have been a nice change of pace, but I think it's about time we've seen the uniforms return to their roots.
  3. Just watched a video of their show. I recognized "Overture" from Dancer in the Dark by Björk and "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse, but nothing else.
  4. I'm getting a 2010/2011/2014 vibe from this show theme. That's certainly not a bad thing.
  5. I'm back! This past week, I went with my school's choir on a field trip to New York City and saw the musical Finding Neverland, which was absolutely wonderful. There were quite a few selections that I think could work well on the field, but especially this one (minus all the modulations):
  6. Sadly, this has become all too common in recent years...
  7. https://twitter.com/thecadets/status/719531356087128064 Wait, what???
  8. It has been mentioned several times that Lauridsen does not allow his works to be arranged for the marching arts. Perhaps he's finally lifted it?
  9. Jersey Surf 2016: "Ebb & Flow" Featuring music by Reznor, Debussy, Trenet, & Cirque. https://twitter.com/jerseysurf/status/712259944523939841
  10. Is it just me or does the sketch make the uniforms look too... sexy?
  11. Oh yeah, I almost forgot that they opened with the Etta James song. I think it was originally announced as having all original music by Saucedo. In that case, the last significant all-original show I can think of is Cavaliers 2003. (I originally said 2006, but remembered that they played a piece by Wynton Marsalis in that show.)
  12. Blue Stars 2013 is the last one I can think of.
  13. The Troopers' show will feature "Walking With Heroes" by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, "Fix You" by Coldplay, and original music by Robert W. Smith. http://trib.com/news/local/casper/troopers-take-field-honoring-heroes/article_bc8a7a07-4672-58a7-b429-aea6c073576d.html
  14. It appears that the piece in question is "I, Don Quixote" from Man of La Mancha by Mitch Leigh.
  15. Interesting choice of Daytona Beach over Jacksonville. Wonder how this will affect attendance rates?
  16. They announced last year's program on May 5th, so yes.
  17. I'll only admit that brass runs are overused when a corps manages to pull this baby off! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLHj-eekdNU
  18. Phantom Regiment 1996, going from 4th in Prelims to tied for 1st at Finals with their first ever championship. Not to mention, one of the most memorable closers of the '90s!
  19. I hope to hear some Antonio Vivaldi and Frankie Valli on the field this year. Wait a minute...
  20. I'd say it's a combination of copyright clearance and the desire to "hype up" the show so that fans will be more intrigued when it's announced.
  21. It appears that SCV will be playing "Sanctuary" by Frank Ticheli.
  22. "Earth Song" actually comes out of a piece for wind band by Frank Ticheli called "Sanctuary," which was written for his friend H. Robert Reynolds. I could be wrong, but I believe "Earth Song" was commissioned after the 2007 Virginia Tech mass shooting. "Sanctuary" also includes some key changes not found in the choral version, and you can hear Vanguard do so at around 01:58:10 of the birthday dinner video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag5HkuojW_g EDIT: I'm pretty convinced now that Vanguard is playing "Sanctuary" and not "Earth Song."
  23. As I mentioned in the pinned 2016 programs thread, it looks like they'll be playing "The Canyon" by Philip Glass. If anyone can recognize any of the other pieces Vanguard played, let us know.
