  1. https://ascendperformingarts.org/events/datr/ Hasn't been announced. Last year it was held at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood (6th Ave and Kipling), but of course that lineup didn't include BD or SCV. I don't know the present feasibility/cost of having this show in the Broncos' stadium, where it's historically been held. It would be disappointing to wind up with another standstill show because of a half inch of rain. Prop-A-Palooza seems to necessitate an artificial turf field. Jeffco is artificial turf, while the Broncos' stadium is natural grass, so there may be your answer.
  2. Was Spirit of Atlanta hosting any 2022 shows? I'm wondering if the decision to call off their season will result in any shows being cancelled.
  3. Here's the state distribution of the 20 shows (pre-Indy) for The Cadets. What do you notice? Texas 4 Georgia 2 Mississippi 2 Alabama 1 North Carolina 1 South Carolina 1 Tennessee 1 Ohio 1 Massachusetts 2 Pennsylvania 2 Delaware 1 Maryland 1 Annapolis 1
  4. By my tally: Number of 2022 shows (pre-Indy) Blue Devils 17 Bluecoats 19 Santa Clara Vanguard 19 Carolina Crown 18 The Cavaliers 25 Boston Crusaders 19 Blue Knights 21 Blue Stars 23 The Cadets 20 Mandarins 23 Crossmen 20 Phantom Regiment 22 Spirit of Atlanta 19 Pacific Crest 18 The Academy 23 Colts 22 Madison Scouts 20 Troopers 20 Genesis 20 Music City 20 I'd say 20 shows seems to be the average, with Cavaliers being an outlier at 25
  5. 7. https://cadets.org/ron-lambert-named-director-cadets-0 RON LAMBERT NAMED DIRECTOR OF THE CADETS CORPS NEWS/ NOVEMBER 05, 2021 As the start of the 2022 season approaches, Cadets Arts & Entertainment (CAE) is thrilled to announce the promotion of Ron Lambert to Director of The Cadets. Ron has a long history of dedication and excellence as a music educator. For 37 years, he has served as a member, instructor, designer, and administrator throughout the drum corps community. "Ron joined The Cadets family as Assistant Director in the fall of 2019 and has proven to be an exceptional leader and educator," said CEO Denise Bonfiglio. "Ron and I were partners throughout the 2020/2021 season, and we worked together to ensure that The Cadets stayed healthy, supported the dreams and expectations of our 2021 performers, and delivered a program that had deep roots to The Cadets and the drum corps community. I look forward to working together for many years to come," she said. Denise served as Director of The Cadets from October 2019 to November 2021, and she remains the leader of The Cadets organization. With Ron's promotion, Denise will serve exclusively as the Chief Executive Officer for Cadets Arts & Entertainment, working closely with the Corps Director, Board of Directors, and Administrative Staff to ensure a high quality Cadets program. "I couldn't be more honored or excited," Lambert said. "The Cadets has an 87-year legacy of excellence in music education and pageantry performance, and I fully intend to continue that legacy. We are a small but mighty team, and this corps has a bright future ahead." Ron is an alumnus of the Illiana Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps (1984-5) and The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps Snare Line (1986-9), as well as the University of Illinois Marching Illini. Before coming onboard with The Cadets, he was the Assistant Director of the Boston Crusaders from 2017 to 2019. He recently retired as the Director of Bands at Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Fla., where he taught from 2004 to 2021. He also previously served as the Director of Athletic Bands Percussion at the University of South Florida from 2000 to 2005. From 2008 to 2012, Ron served as a Director’s Track facilitator at the Music For All/Bands of America Summer Symposium Leadership Camp. He has arranged for marching band programs and drum corps around the country. He is a professional drummer with many recording and touring credits as well as over 25 years of private and curricular education experience. In 2007, Ron co-produced and arranged for the critically acclaimed touring and off-Broadway musical,  BattleDrum . He has been named Lakewood Ranch Teacher of the Year and Fine Arts Teacher of the Year, a Florida Best and Brightest Teacher Scholarship Award recipient (2016 to 2019), and is a GRAMMY nominee, finishing as a Quarterfinalist for the 2017 GRAMMY Educators Award. Ron resides in Apollo Beach, Fla. with his wife, Karyn. He has two children; Jessykka and Brandon; a granddaughter, Zoë; and two cats; Logan and Chadwick.
  8. I don't where Drum Corps would be today without the widespread adaptation of an innovation that I so lovingly refer to as "PARK-N-BLOW SQUAT POSING" (PNBSP) -- gotta be sure to check that box (body movement) for the judges!!
  9. Yes I noticed that both were marked. In prior seasons the corps’ would have performed at other venues (Atlanta, Buffalo) with both sets of hashes before Indy.
  10. Yes. A very good run. I wondered whether some of the misalignment in the drill was because of differences in NFL vs. High School/College hash marks
  11. I wasn’t expecting Frameworks, but I wasn’t expecting WGI With Brass either.
  12. I've felt this season's "ShallAlwaysBe" show theme is another take on "The Unity Project" given the design freedom (i.e., no judging) allowed this year. I think it was important for the current members to have an opportunity to "feel the love" from so many alumni and fans.
  13. I agree. I believe the show design (especially the return of the traditional uniform) likely helped retain some members who otherwise may have chosen to join one of the "cool corps" It's about creating unity of purpose for the future. This season presented The Cadets with the unique opportunity to craft a show for the alumni and fans that acknowledges past achievements and sets a course of excellence for the future. Denise explicitly states this in the narration at the start of Far and Away. After the 2019 season, I seem to remember a fair number of folks who wondered if The Cadets had the means to field another corps.
  14. It's possible it's supposed to resemble an attic, as if someone were discovering these Cadets arrangements/recordings for the first time? as in "Everything old is new again"
  15. I believe this is typical of DCI's intent to fill the stands on Saturday night FWIW, this was the 2019 Hoosier discount. I felt it provided a good deal for walk-up high school groups who want to attend en masse. https://www.dci.org/static/2019-dci-world-championship-finals-ticket-offer-for-indiana-residents I'm guessing they'll discount the $49/$79 seats.
  16. The timing of the announcement was intentional. A wonderful present for 12.25
  17. I started a thread last week, when I discovered this feature when I logged into Flomarching (to cancel my annual subscription renewal on June 1). My point in sharing was for those who might want to get some enjoyment during the remaining days of their annual subscription. Then I saw my thread was taken down with no explanation. I particularly enjoyed the 42 Cadets shows (1975, 1977, 1980-2019) they featured on Sunday 5/24. But whatever, I guess my original post was deemed more inappropriate than the usual spreading of wild ### rumors about the Cadets or other nonsense 🙂
  18. I know of one member's family who couldn't be more appreciative of the impressive leadership Denise and her team have shown this season and especially throughout this unprecedented time. This member's family has yet to experience the "lack of information" that you have alleged. But feel free to keep stirring the pot, if it makes you feel better.
  19. When the "Cadets 2020" thread gets bumped to the second page of DCI World Class Corps Discussions, Mr. Acheson, it's time.
  20. Yes, what was this supposed email of which RContra posted late Thursday, then later edited his/her post? Mind you, I remain skeptical of the feasibility of a 2020 season, but it'll be cancelled for the Cadets at the same time as the rest of the DCI world and open class corps.
  21. Completely agree. "With the hope for a safe and vastly improved environment in the coming weeks..." -- that just ain't gonna happen folks. This pandemic is just getting started. This seems more about softening the blow when they have to REALLY pull the plug.
  22. I call ########. For example, Cadets had a virtual brass camp this weekend. It's deplorable for anyone to use this public health emergency to spread misinformation and innuendo about the current Cadets leadership. The only ones who would be privy to this kind of information would be Denise and members of the new board.
