  1. Well in 3 different shows.. 3 different corps! oh the influences I attract !!!! lol
  2. The new box also includes wording that you must use an assortment of BBQ grills, multiple Elvis impersonators and a Hockey Penalty Box in order to gain a portion of the 5% !!!
  3. Congratulations to all who were inducted. As a Charter Member..I say WELCOME !! Also a special congrats to Bob and Pete. Bob has been a huge part of my life as well as my Dad's going back to when he joined the Vagabonds. We taught, marched and have been a part of each others families since. he was a huge supporter and ear piece for me when I took the Hurcs over in 1985 to help rebuild them . Pete got his drum corps start from my Dad back when my Dad reorganized the Vagabonds. We marched together in the Explorers, Vagabonds and Hurricanes as well as teaching together with the Vags.. Oh those rides from Torrington to Oxford in that Volvo ! Pete is just an awesome guy and one any Corps would be grateful to have . I can't tell you the overwhelming feeling of joy I got when I heard they were being inducted! Mark Burrell....the Amazing Marko... was unlike any person I met when I joined the Hurricanes. Mark is a legend within the Corps. His triasts with Dougie, Joey and all are what makes for legendary story telling that will live on for years. He had fun but was also a fierce competitor when the uniform went on !. All these gentlemen exemplify the passion of those who wear the Lightning Bolt !!! I again Congratulate these MEN of CONNECTICUT in their accomplishments .. WALK PROUD !!
  4. RIP Rich... you will be missed but never forgotten
  5. Thanks everyone. Looking forward to helping their percussion move to the next level.! (Guardling.. Be North soon!)
  6. Martin, You are welcome. And you are correct in what we talked about... You will always Be Blue as I will always be Green ! But the respect will never see a color barrier !
  7. I was stunned to hear this news yesterday, Just having been with George at DCA Finals. The music world has lost a great CHAMPION of the Arts! His UMass bands produced some great teachers and arrangers. His drum major camps produced a lot of fine talent. He was and will always be a Buccaneer, as he has said . He commanded the field and the respect of all when he was THE CONDUCTOR When I was with the Hurricanes ... both corps in the 70's and early 80's ,at the time, were not very fond of each other... but we all did Respect George! He was a great motivator. And had a wonderful sense of humor. When he retired and was at his last retreat with DCA, the only thing I remember was him coming up to me as the DM's were dismissed, saluting me and shaking my hand and saying it was a pleasure. That was a WOW moment for me! It is also ironic, that we lost Pepe 21 years ago on the same day. Who cannot forget how they played off each other on many a retreat! My condolences to his immediate Family and his UMass and Buccaneer Families RIP Mr George Parks. A Legend that will live on in our hearts and minds. George and I at DCA Finals 2010
  8. Thanks Mike You'll also notice a Lot of DeLucias charts have left hand leads and rimshots. Most of those writers and instructors that learned from "rudimental" drummers/instructors all learned left hand leads. Look at a Fife and Drum style of drumming and it starts left handed. It also allows more development between BOTH hands for a more eveness and not having a more dominant hand and allows you to play complicated sticking patterns alot easier. Aint that right Mr Whacker !!
  9. Mike , Its a good idea and has been batted around between the corps. . We did try it once before. Shenandoah Sound hosted... but it really put some pressure on the corps'. And noone really gets to rehearse. Also just an FYI, most of the Southern corps' travel up to the parades , not with a full corps and usually leave their front ensemble equipment home to save costs ! Also 4th of July does not always fall on a weekend,, And remember DCA (other then Championships and the Lowell show) does not host contests. So you would need to find a willing and able host to put up the bucks.... Good thought though
  10. DCI scores do not affect DCA placement. Only DCA shows... It was only done in California at a DCI show with DCA corps in attendance and DCA sent a judging coordinator to help the judges with DCA sheets. Last year they waived the 3 corps show rule to assist Renegades get a score. One shot deals if I remember
  11. Yeah I knew that ... thats what happens when you forget your medication then get blinded !!
  12. Thought I was missing a shirt from the closet ~~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRAN
  13. My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and family at this time.... He is a fighter!
  14. Not much more can be said....Thanks Glen, My condolences to you and your family! He will NEVER walk alone !
  15. Ray ..you sell yourself short also..... You are agreat arranger in your own right. And learned from some of the best.. Thanks for this Frank... and a nice tip to Artie... who still teaches and plays as well today as 1963 !!! Hope some of the younger DC members listen to what was performed on piston/slide horns, then piston/rotor horns !!
  16. Congrats John and Tammy ! Apair of Pro Marks are on their way :
  17. I think he was of the last ones left from the era. I remember meeting him as a young boy when my Dad drove me to Revere for a 27 practice..... 13, yikes... but he wlecomed me, but my DAD said..no more trips to Revere tll you get a car Anyway, if you get a chance check out the tribte Bridgemen Alumni did to 27.... talk about emotionall!!
