  1. How can a person who knows so much flunk a try-out? If you play low brass-you have to Love Phantom- especially that chord in the ballad! I loved Blue Devils - one of my favorite shows of all time. SCV should have also passed Cadets ( who have awesome talent but so=so show ) Crown show much better than judged as frankiE
  2. Has any video or still photography surfaced from the Allentown DCI East Friday night " Drone Fly-Over " ?
  3. said judge is a great watch on the field.....constantly running and almost getting bumped off! in addition to Troopers , corps staff from Crown and Phantom pretty much know in advance what kind of night to expect
  4. I don't need to say anything - you said it all for me! Thanks for writing a review that is analytical without being degrading , while giving your honest well thought out opinions. Each year I buy a T shirt to support my favorite corps of the year , and in spite of the naysayers , I purchased a Regiment Hornline shirt. While it hurt where they performed position wise , it helped to have the hornline take a quantum leap forward from the previous players. Did anyone else notice the drone flying over SCV in the backfield? One last thing - these kids must love Allentown - it is the most demonstrative audience of any sort I have ever seen! frankiE
  5. This show reminded me of 2006 Zone aftermath , maybe DCI should have a " Narration Battle " during intermission! I can't believe your timing is inaccurate! frankiE
  6. The 400% increase would be correct for from two years ago , my fossilized memory tells me last year the show did not happen. There is a one man does everything person making a valiant effort to keep drumcorps alive in metropolitan NY locale. ( this show in particular ) frankiE
  7. Wow - thanks for posting the scores Andy In 1965 I played third baritone for the Little Falls Cadets , 50 Grand Prix's later *I will be on the field with Sky Alumni! Too bad Hichcliffe won't be renovated for a few more years ( plans are made - historic designation obtained )!
  8. I watched the show on the Fan Network , and the announcer ( who appeared to be pacing around in the pit area ) seemed to be SCREAMING to generate some level of excitement , same loud level for every corps.
  9. Saddest thing I have ever seen was Bush doing their show in the hotel parking lot in Annapolis in 2012 , I felt so bad- what a great group of musicians going home before finals - well done Bush!
  10. I am the contra to the left of Joe " Trog " Rizzolo - aka " The Medieval Jester "!
  11. One thing I will say as a person on the field..... ThankYou Crowd! although some folks may be bean counting success or failure by numbers , those of us out there really appreciate the enthusiasm and interaction of the fans in the seats! It was a beautiful night for DrumCorps and an enjoyable event! frankiE
  12. I could not have said it better. For three years I knew John in Sky Alumni , I would never have knew who he was because he was such a modest , hard working person. When I learned who he was , I almost collapsed. One of the jobs of the healthier alumni corps members is to help anyone in distress after a sunny day , heat torturing performance. Last year John fought the elements, and always shrugged off offers to help , but for me walking along with John and the little chats were so rewarding. Please be well John , and you two Barbara. frankiE
  13. Thank You YEA and Cadets for making this available to all!
  14. King K90 weighs in at 28 and a half pounds
  15. At the Reading Buccaneer's preview show I was having dinner with two lady contra's ( one did five years undefeated with Bucs and the other plays with the Reilly Raiders alumni ) . Both fine ladies and excellent players.
  16. for 2013 The Phantom Regiment young lady.... the SCV mellophone player
  17. Thank You - even more preposterous- she is not in The Cadets hall of fame
  18. They can borrow these replicas and put wheels on them and just use last year's drill! http://thefoamhenge.com/
  19. will DCI return BD to face of the org after throwing CC a bone? can Hopkins once again produce a championship caliber show? can SCV recreate 1988 to 1989 with 2004 to 2014? will the adjudicary start yelling BLOOO? will Phantom remove the restrictor plates and have a full bore ending? is Madison drinking the corporate Kool-Aid? can Troopers sneak a color pres into their show again? will Blue Knights utilize their talent and abandon avant garde? can Crossmen rediscover the funk and drop the PC messaging? I am a fossil who enjoys todays DC frankiE
  20. what he said! bad enough doing local gigs , but out of state travel is another thing altogether and add on the feeling of a Bach 24W in sub 30 degrees temperature ( and 30 pounds of contra bass/tuba ) don't read anything into these numbers - best of luck to all corps in 2014! frankiE
  21. Yes last week - same poster and not really any replies with definitive answers. Unfortunately at some shows which use to be crowded the view from the field is of empty seats. frankiE
  22. Mine is pretty banged up , if you have one , know of someone or a placed to purchase one it would be greatly appreciated. thanks frankiE
  23. Although the crowd was not large by old standards , I hope some folks are not judging the crowd size off of the DVD's. Most of the crowd was up under the overhang , to escape the heat of the sun ( never seen in camera views - referred to on the DVD by the Park City Pride DM who asks them to move down closer to the performers. ) frankiE
  24. I loved their entire show. When I saw the image of their uniform . I thought WTF? When I saw the entire show it all made sense to me. Kudos to CC for brilliant design . no need for rule changes to get clever ideas. IMHO since " Bohemia" CC really uses voice in a positive manner, best in whatever this activity is called now. from a enrolled in Medicare K90 player! fecontra
