JimF-LowBari
Chicago Connection (was it only three years that the corps existed?) Hershey Chocolatiers (more local than Westshoremen for me at the time) RI Matadors (1977 and 1980 still in my top 10 shows) Westshoremen (need to see more than 10-15 minutes a year) Skyliners (well can't see them on the field so on my list, hope to see in the future) Erie Thunderbirds (just listened to 76/77 DCA recently so their shows are fresh in my mind) Had to smile seeing the comments on corps like Hanover. Lancers (well AL Post #14 was the name at the time) started out as a parade corps that represented the Post and community at different events. Corps didn't do their first field competition until 29 years after the corps founded. Now after starting out as something for the ex-members to do, the corps is again a parade group that represents the Post and community at...... Full circle has now been achieved. (And the word "Alumni" doesn't always show up in our introductions.)
donincardona
If you're talking about the same type of war I'm thinking... trust me... there was one night at a swanky country club after the Lewisburg PA show - Reilly definitely won... actually as you know reilly won most of the wars in those days. they didn't call him wild bill for nothing. Fran Haring
Anyone remember Verona Cavaliers or Cumberland Freestatesmen ? A group of peple from the Freestatesmen went on to run the DCA show in Cumberland that ran from 1989 through 2000. I still miss that show and the ride to Western Maryland! elphaba01
Wow ... memory lane ... now that you mentioned those corps I remembered that the Chicago (Des Plaines/Skokie) Vanguard competed DCA for a few years ...And pre-DCA, who could ever forget the Keesler Air Force Base drum corps at the first World Open in 1963!!!! :-) "Sac Senior": My crystal ball says that Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights "Went Senior" for part of the 1975 season and they, along with Blue Rock competed in DCA Prelims. And yes, I remember Kessler AFB at the 1963 WO. Elphaba WWW
