NashvillePat
So everyone is completely clear, the 2002 cavies guy was joking. I was not alive in 1980 so I've only seen the recording. It sounds loud and it's kind of impressive but (go ahead and hate me) it isn't very pleasant sounding. I have not seen drum corps live before 2000 so I'm recusing myself from this discussion. That's probably for the best... It wasn't kind of impressive.... IT WAS INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE
FHdork
93 Phantom...that was...well, very loud - And a show I enjoyed VERY much...
SFZFAN
Cadets 2007.. no question They were the loudest in 2007 - no doubt but nowhere near the sheer volume and power of that 1980 Spirit hornline. Pure, sexy awesomeness.
SFZFAN
Madison 2010 Yes. I'd love that!
BozzlyB
It's awful hard to vote for a show I never saw live, but the recordings are unreal all by themselves. SOA 1980.
Perry S
I dunno. Crown's getting close to old school loud You're correct. Crown is our best hope right now But, from what I hear Madison is trying to take up the torch now also :o)
ohHAIitsNovak
From what I've heard Madison has the best shot of being the loudest of the 2000's...it'd be nice for that to happen. I always thought Star 91 was loud.
HockeyDad
Just because something is loud doesn't mean its sounds good. I'd gladly take Cadets 2007 over Spirit. And clearly the loudest hornline was the 2003 Kiwanis Kavaliers. But this thread isn't about sounding good. It's about what was the loudest. In that regard, nothing after 2000 need apply. Sorry you didn't get to hear live "Sanctus", Phantom's opener in 2003. It was good, and it was LOUD. Definitely in the running for "loudest ever."
