Carolina09Spirit
Well, we all knew it would happen at some point. PR is no longer undefeated in Percussion! So, is this something to cheer about? Phantom will be fine. Nah, I'm not cheering about it. Just the fact of the matter. Everyone had been posting about Phantom and how long they were going to stay undefeated...well, at this level of competition, didn't take very long. Well, PR was beat by two drumlines last night and Crown's center snare wasn't even there.
year1buick
Well, PR was beat by two drumlines last night and Crown's center snare wasn't even there. Nope, they still beat Crown last night. (According the recap posted, at least.)
3rd Glasgow BB
Phantom only increased their over all score by .4 on their last performance. That to me suggests this performance by the corps as a whole wasn't quite what they were looking/hoping for. Therefore the percusion placement is probably a reflection of that. It's still "early doors" as we say over here, August is still a long way off. Edited June 30, 2010 by 3rd Glasgow BB
steeldrum
How much, if any, did Phantom's early performance time (before intermission) effect the judges perception and PR's percussion score? Please discuss......
wvu80
You are all discussing Phantom, but what you should be discussing is Bluecoats. They are phenomenal with EVERYTHING the battery does. Playing, moving, stick visuals. They are the REAL DEAL. -WVU 80, Official Cheerleader for Bluecoats Drumline
BRASSO
How much, if any, did Phantom's early performance time (before intermission) effect the judges perception and PR's percussion score? Please discuss...... Sure..we can discuss. Boston would have apparently beaten Phantom pretty comfortably last night except for the percussion scores. Maybe both Corps percussion scores would have gone up had they performed after INT, instead of before INT. But INT has been known to be a show stopper. Last night was probably no different. noneofyourbusiness
my guess would be that the judges are falling more into the "body movement" phase and are awarding points for it. and since phantom doesnt have much body movement at all, they dont score as high. but i do agree, phantom does have the most substance. paul's way of playing the quads against the snare writing is just great. and the bassline is so smooth over both parts! sandi has great FE writing and gives a warm feel. bluecoats i feel havent had a great book since 08. the writing seems really stale and predictable at times, but having said that, they are pulling it off (will a million and one visuals) and are being rewarded for it.coats may have won the battle, but who will win the war? we shall see... Personally, I feel just the opposite. PR feels very old school to me, which makes them seem stale and predictable IMHO. I am really digging what corps like Bluecoats and Blue Stars are doing with the visuals this year. Very dynamic, very aggresive. Bluecoats are much cleaner than Blue Stars right now, but that could change with Aungst in La Crosse. The "old standard" style of PR just leaves me bored.
