jjeffeory
I like First Circle better when we did it in 1998. Oh you were a part of that show too? :worthy:
cmathis
I like First Circle better when we did it in 1998. I'm willing to bet the brass arranger had a lot to do with that.
soccerguy315
Sigh. Y'know, Metheny/Mays compositions are among the most straightforward out there; they give you lots of natural progressions of musical ideas, which generally build to very satisfying conclusions. Why the ___ would you decide to take a bunch of random quotations from various compositions and mash them together in a random order? same reason a lot of corps are doing that now... I guess. disappointing, really.

2000Cadet
I'm willing to bet the brass arranger had a lot to do with that. One of the other brass arrangers I consider a musical genius. Edited July 17, 2010 by 2000Cadet

oldbandguy
Crossmen brass and perc books just aren't cutting it...and it's not like they didn't have a couple of great sources of their own to get it right. It all sounds like a much watered down version of the past.
MikeZ
I like First Circle better when we did it in 1998. I know there are lots of versions out there...BD, Boston, Kiwanis, just to name a few, but I would go with 98 Crossmen for the win. My favorite First Circle. 2000Cadet
Oh you were a part of that show too? :worthy: Yes I was and I miss that show, especially the guard with those ridiculously huge semicircle flags.
