mingusmonk
I sure hope they paid Yamaha for doing the R&D on the new snare! Looks like they blended Pearl and Yamaha. The Yamaha lower-mounted posts, not completely free floating. Pearl's straight-through alignment of the lugs/tension rods, edge ring/rims. SFZFAN
Does anyone have info on the materials? Carbon? Maple? Birch?
gbass598
Does anyone have info on the materials? Carbon? Maple? Birch? Don't know the material but I picked up from someone on another forum who saw the drum at a SCV clinic recently that it is supposedly a 10-ply shell to allow for a sharper bearing edge to allow the bottom head to resonate more. I'm guessing it is maple since that is what Dynasty used for their previous drums.
old skool drmmr
I sure hope they paid Yamaha for doing the R&D on the new snare! Actually, everyone should be paying PREMIER for the original free-floating design. But to your point, it is kinda funny that it's even called the DFZ...
gbass598
I didn't clarify this earlier, but that Dynasty snare drum is for Phantom Regiment as well. I can only assume that will be their finish for the season. Doesn't look much different than their drums from last year.
MikeN
Thank goodness. I've used Dynasty drums with my minicorps and have always liked them, but to say they look ... wonky... from a distance was an understatement. Very, very nice look to them. actucker
10 ply maple. Paul Rennick had a very heavy hand in the design, going so far as to track down a 2006 Pearl drum from Phantom Regiment which he said was the best sounding drum he'd ever heard. Looks like Glassmen, Phantom and Vanguard will all be using this new design. Does anyone have info on the materials? Carbon? Maple? Birch? MikeN
Likely just a placeholder, but Taylor Music (usaband.com) already has an info page up for them - http://www.1800usaband.com/products/view/2573 Mike
hughesmr
That new Dynasty looks even heavier than the old one!
Popular Post actucker
That new Dynasty looks even heavier than the old one! Oh please. No human being on the planet should ever complain about carrying a snare drum. March around a field with the deep shell Pearl tenors and then come talk to me.
