Gggh'84Star'85-'88
(I'm not making this up!) Little known fact: Original Incorporation papers for Star are in the original name for the corps. The Hoosier Assembly I saw the original announcement in the Bloomington paper and about died laughing. By first camp, all was in place and Star was on the way. ffernbus3
Close call re: names, eh? Glad STAR won out. When I read some of the names that have been used in drum corps history I constantly wonder what the originators was thinking and why were they not stopped? ContraRich77
How about "Satan's Angels"? Anyone remember this corps? They DID exist, they're on corpsreps........ I would like a fledgling corps to one day name themselves "Lost Soul of the Yak Drum & Bugle Corps" I believe that one would take the cake. Walter
To DRUMCORPSMOM Dutch Boy is the name of the sponsor. Dutch Boy Food Markets. Nothing we could do. They sold out to Sobey's Food Markets in the late 90's. There's no way we're changing our name to what? Sobey's drum & bugle corps? By the way how do you pronounce " Etobicoke " Edited March 22, 2004 by Old Dutch Boy Cadet

uncle z
I'm just gonna cover my state-- The name I couldn't stand was a merger corps from Milwaukee, the Crusader- Gladiators (Crusaders=nothing whatsoever to do with Gladiators--at least come up with a name that isn't an oxymoron) And the name that is just too cute to resist, a feeder corps--the Pages of the Wausau Story!!! (Wausau being the home of Wausau Insurance, whose motto was The Wausau Story)
Malibu
Did anyone else ever find themselves making fun of the name "Les Etoiles". It sounds funny when pronounced phoenetically and sounds like a dirty phrase when pronounced correctly. Maybe it's just my dirty mind. nope....you aren't alone.....I found myself as well as my friends snickering on that one many times! :P I mean really, in English it's close to sounding like "toilet." b**bs Not only that, but as you have said, if you pronounced it correctly, it would sound dirty!
