Gary Matczak
Sorry, my brain said it wasn't just last year but my feeble web searches came up with that date. As I said though a true legend. Semper Fi Right On!
fish66
no disrespect to conductors, honor guard ,or side drum majors. real marching members. Didnt the hurcs have a 70 year old sop player ? Marching drill?? For the record...Harvey Olderman passed following the 85' season at age 89. He completed 54 years with the Corps! (1932-1985) And you're correct...Tom Brady marched a full drill last year at age 72!.......He was a rookie in 1956'!!!!!!!!!!

BigW
I think George H with Cabs alumni is the oldest right now. I think he passed Harvey but I am unsure exactly how old he is. I know Frank P. and some of the guys would like me to meet him, and I will try to this year at a show. A real grand gentleman. Not 'old', young at heart by all accounts. My wife and I talked to George a few years back just as Cabs Alumni were getting ready to march out for their part of a show. All those years and performances and all he wanted to do was make sure Kris was following what he doctors said since she was using a walker. A real caring gentleman... Fran Haring
I think George H with Cabs alumni is the oldest right now. I think he passed Harvey but I am unsure exactly how old he is. George is celebrating yet another anniversary of his 39th birthday this year. Seriously... for my money, he is the living legend in the drum corps activity today.
Cabsleadbari79
I was at a meeting with George on Monday night, he is looking younger every year. He is 86 years young and still helps the corps with the Grand Prix.
Andyroo
I was at a meeting with George on Monday night, he is looking younger every year. He is 86 years young and still helps the corps with the Grand Prix. Actually, there was another member of the Alumni who retired at the end of last season who is older than George by a year or two. Without his permission, of course, I can't give his name. He wasn't in the corps as long as George - who started out, of course, on Day 1 - but he is older. MikeD
WHO IS THE OLDEST PERSON YOU KNOW WHO MARCHED IN A DRUM CORPS? Hmmmm...not in any of my corps, but I know a bunch of members of the corps we competed against in the early 70's used to be cheered on by their wives and children (see sig for my corps). Heh... I met a guy in the mid-1970s who said he had marched with a local junior corps for several years and had "retired" within the past year. As he spoke, he was holding the hand of his five-year-old son.
